| He sent me these photos
I don't know how accurate his descriptions of London are;
I am just the messenger. 2 lovely Lassies I met on the British Airways flight over London is the Video Surveillance Capital of Europe Public Urinals, I KID YOU NOT!! I hope I'll never need an Ambulance while I am here!! London Co-Ed! Bobby-Soxer These signs are everywhere.... So many rules here!! Cops here are funny! They all wear bright yellow jackets! You might as well just put a bulls-eye on your back!! No, she's not a working girl. Many Lassies dress like this around here!! London Mini-Cab drivers waiting for a fare. Not sure if I would feel safe getting into their Cabs.Mini-Cabs are different than the regular Cabs. Mini-Cabs are 4 passenger cars or 5-8 Passenger vans privately owned that get a license to carry passengers. They cannot be hailed on the street like a regular cab. They get their passenger either by pre-booking through an office or customers approaching them for rides at pre-designated locations around the city. They also cannot hustle the public for rides. I.E.: You can go get a license and turn your 4 door Lexus into a cab but without needing to install the lights on the roof and the equipment on the inside. London regular Cab aka Black Cabs. |

| This explains it well: - Quote :
- While “taxi” and “cab” are generally regarded as words of the same meaning in every English-speaking country in the world, certain people may have a way to differentiate between the two. Some British people reserve the term “taxis” for the iconic vehicles that are popularly known as “black cabs”. These diesel-engined vehicles are mostly black in color, and they have a high passenger compartment roof to provide more relaxed seating. The term “cabs” or “minicabs” is sometimes used to refer to ordinary saloon cars that are available for hire. These cars can be modern cars of various makes and models, and they are usually cheaper to ride with than black cabs. Some minicabs do not belong to any cab company, and they operate without a license. Make sure to only use licensed minicab companies.
You are allowed to hail a taxi from the street, but not a minicab. Minicabs must be booked in advance. Minicab fares are often considerably lower compared to the black taxis and they run on a fixed fare. Taxis on the other hand run on a taximeter, which considers traffic, distance and waiting time.
People in the UK may have a good reason to make a distinction between “taxis” and “cabs”, simply because they have many different types of such vehicles. Instead of saying that they took “an ordinary saloon-type taxicab” to their destination, they can just say that they took a “minicab”. It is a more convenient way to describe the type of vehicle they hired. Anyway, whether the distinction is consciously adopted or not, nobody in the UK will refer to a black cab as a “minicab”. http://www.londoncabs.co.uk/cabs-vs-taxis/ Minicabs!!!Taxis!!! |

| This invention I approve of. Better than having to use a public washroom, where two guys are found in every stall. Canada can we get some please! |

I don't feel comfortable using that where everyone can see you. But of course, it's probably there to keep people from urinating on the streets. I've been to Japan and they like to make Toilets complicated; at least the one in London looks simple and functional. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KU_vNb_XkTM this is a photo I took in 2009 of the Toilet control in my Hotel Room at the Hyatt Kyoto Japan I hope they sanitize those control panels several times hourly with 100% bleach!!

I'll stick to pissing in alleyways and on cars, thanks. That works at 2 AM on a Friday night, but these devices would be great for weekday mid-afternoon. Public washrooms are scary places at any time of day. Sanitation workers could even hose them down as they strolled by on their rounds. I approve! |

| They'd probably have to, as plenty of people would be shitting on them.
Plenty of horror stories from my friends seeing people (all of a certain race, but let's not go there) shitting on the ground in broad daylight. The Sydney CBD would quickly become a sewer if we had these open air poop stations dotted around the place. |

| I thought they were wiz stations, not dumpers. They are a little open for dumpers, even wizzers, come to think of it.
The ideal would be outdoor facilities, just slightly out of the way, so people could avoid them. They ideally would be staffed by a city-worker who could eyeball every person who took use and provide admittance. This would be an itimidation technique. ie "I dare you to make a big filthy mess. I know who you are."
That's the approach we take at our soup kitchen. A guy admits each person to the can, so that each visitor is held accountable for the state of the washroom when they are done. It sort of works. But some of them just don't "give a crap." Pigs will be pigs.
The big problem with downtown public male-washrooms though is all the gay activity that goes on inside the stalls. Its epidemic in any big city. Winos holing up in the stalls and leaving evidence of their occupation doesn't help either. |

| a few years ago I saw a video of the automatic toilet booth (door that opens and closes automatically, toilet that flushes and it even has a build in bidet) that are in Japan
you can't see inside from outside but while you are inside, you can see outside at the people going by while you do your business
I wish I could find that video |

| This discussion is almost as yecchy as the one about how the diamonds were "inserted" into Peter Frank's corpse.
Best advice. Do your absolute best to avoid having to use any kind of public washroom facility. |

| I really need to make my way over to London. Maybe next Spring.
I'll only need a map to show me the best bars, brothels, and a route back to the airport. |

Yes. Guessing where it had previously been was half the fun. |
