Mega Millions 'winner: 'I lost the ticket'.

How many of us didn't see this coming? What I don't understand, though, is this sentence: "I did not make up no story to get no attention." I understand that a double-negative in a sentence is a positive, but what about a triple-negative? Is she saying she did indeed make up a story to get attention, or that she actually did not make up a story to get attention? I think she's trying to influence the process and make a claim on the winning ticket whenever that person comes forward, knowing that she didn't actually purchase it herself and was never in possession of a winning ticket. She's hoping that whomever does come forward will take pity on her for being a poor, knocked-up, McDonalds worker with seven kids and no man in her life. To quote Albert from The Color Purple: "You're black, you're poor, you're ugly, you're a woman, you're nothing at all."

A mother-of-seven who claimed she was one of the winners of the $656 million Mega Millions lottery told NBC News on Thursday that she has lost the ticket.

Mirlande Wilson, 37, claims she bought the winning ticket at a 7-Eleven in Baltimore, but so far none of the three winners -- the two others were in Illinois and Kansas -- has actually come forward to claim the money.

Asked by NBC Washington’s Shomari Stone whether she was going to ask for her share, Wilson said, "if I find it [the ticket]."

Stone then asked Wilson if she had lost the ticket and she replied, "I misplaced it."

She was reportedly responsible for a McDonald's employee pool of Mega Millions tickets, but has said that the winning ticket wasn’t part of the pool.

On Wednesday, Wilson’s lawyer Edward Smith Jr., asked the press to leave her alone. Journalists gathered in his office and were then told to go away.

"That's really it … to ask you to go back to your places," Smith said.

Wilson, a Haitian immigrant, told Stone that her situation was "really stressful."

Amid continuing doubts about her story, Stone asked her if she had made it up.

"I didn’t make up the story," Wilson told him. "I did not make up no story to get no attention."

Maryland Lottery director Stephen Martino said the winner has until Sept. 28 to claim the prize. The winner has to do so in person, but doesn't have to make their identity public. Two other winning tickets were sold in Illinois and Kansas.

I lost my ticket, too.

Just need a replacement, and I'll be all set.

the rules are very simple.

if you lose your ticket, you don't claim the jackpot.

the 2 other winners who haven't shown up are probably doing the right thing:

establish an LLC, use the LLC to establish a trust fund, put an honest Attorney and Accountant in charge of the trust fund and LLC, have them collect the lottery money in their place and pay them a sizable sum each year for the rest of their lives to keep their identity anonymous.

that is the only way to collect a lottery jackpot.

Agreed. I won't say everyone who plays the lottery is stupid, but for some of these people, the lottery is the only chance they'll ever have of making above minimum-wage because of poor choices they have made in their lives. This Wilson chick is never going to to be the CEO of any major corporation; she *was* employed by McDonalds and has 7 kids to feed (and apparently has no husband), so the lottery is probably the only chance she's got of earning money way beyond her skills and ability. And apparently she's not even bright enough to run a proper scam on the media.

Well, yeah, there is a big difference. The porno shop is more likely to still be in business. Blockbuster? Not so much.

It's not a porno video shop.

It's an electronic store.

We sell home theater systems, video game consoles, laptops, HD TVs, monitors, 3D TV, accessories, etc etc

We also sell and rent video games and VHS and DVD movies for all ages: baby videos to children movies to regular movies to adult movies.

The only thing we don't sell is Home Appliances and Music CDs and Tower PCs.

We started as a video rental store back in the Late 80s with a little 500 square feet store selling and renting VHS movies (mainstream and adult) and then we slowly expanded to selling hardware too.

We were the first retail video store in the USA to use free membership to rent movies without requiring a credit card imprint as a deposit each time; when we started that, Blockbuster was still doing that.

The video rental business model of our stores have been copied by major adult superstores across the country and I won't mention their names.

Yes, Blockbuster is going out of business.

They closed all the Blockbuster near my house except one, over a year ago.

2 weeks, ago, that Blockbuster has shut down too and last week, the free standing building demolished.

Now if we can only put Best Buy out of business (and they are in the process of doing so too).

They shut down all the remaining Blockbuster stores in Atlanta. The'yd gone through a wave of closings two years ago, but left a few. Now even those have been closed. Now I have to go lower myself and rent movies from the Red Box with the common people and the rabble. I was using Netflix until their pricing system got all uppity. I think I'll resubscribe when I get my new Netflix-compatible streaming Blu Ray Player.

Red Box is okay.

They are cheap!
