Been wanting to see the flick, will get around to it as I progress through Connery's filmography.

Try to do the TripleCrown of WIND, MAN WHO & ROBIN&MARIAN. Really amazing difference between Conney of 70s and 60s in all sorts of ways.

Something a Youtube commenter said here, that's stuck with me.

Many composers can write "scary" music, but Goldsmith was able to express the curiosity and even the perverse sense of adventure in fear - so many layers of emotions here! You're both repelled and drawn. Brilliant artist.

I must revisit my Goldsmith collection, I had so much on Vinyl and since dumping my records a whiles back I forgot how many great scores I have to re-source.

unfortunately, for some, my collection appears to be centred on his Trek scores and Air Force One. Could do with more like Planet of the Apes or Capricorn One...and First Blood.

The soundtrack from CHINATOWN has been remastered:
But it's not expanded? Fuck. If anyone buys this thing be sure it send a link my way, but I don't plan to buy it. I'd love an expanded one with a second disc of Lambro's original score.

Expanded or not, from what I heard on the samples it sounds like a major improvement. Count me in.
Do you know the status of the extra music? Is it just a matter of them not having the rights to release it all?
I have no idea about the politics behind it. All I know is there's 6:52 (+/- a few seconds) minutes of unreleased underscore.

I've seen it either. Could be Jill Haworth.

Ya know, I'd heard of that film but never paid attention. It's a Preminger film? Didn't know that. Thought it was just some hack movie with Wayne and Douglas. Now I wanna see it.

This is pretty cool news for one of my neglected all-time favorites. I didn't ever realize that so much was missing however. Where is it in the film?
It's the following:
- Jake in Mulwray's office - Stinger for discovery of Mulwray's body - Drive through the orange groves - Jake back at home after tailing Evelin, where he gets a call from Ida Sessions. Nice pensive trumpet rendition of the main theme. - Bits and pieces of the cue from discovering Ida's body are missing. You could create complete version of this cue by compiling both "The Last of Ida" and the missing bits in between from the film. - Arrival At Evelyn's place - bowed tremolo low strings. - "Bad for glass." First 20 odd seconds of the cue where Jake discovers the glasses in the saltwater Koi pond. - Arrival At Chinatown. Second (and last) rendition of the Stravinskian theme from the second half of "The Last of Ida" (the fight with Claude Mulvihill) interspersed with string tone clusters.

I've been torn. I don't know if I want to spend money on that, or other scores I've been wanting to get.
I like the STAR TREK score, but I'm not sure if I, personally, would need a 3-disc set.

Another awful movie gets a better score than it ever deserved, courtesy of Jerry.

Watched TOTAL RECALL the other night. Honestly, the most exciting segment is the title sequence, which is 100% due to Goldsmith's rousing main theme:
