Bollocks. You've got a full 18 seconds of the chromatic vamp section of the theme, which everyone identifies with Bond. You don't to have to feature the guitar theme or the bebop fanfare - those three chords are enough.

Besides, the damn thing is so short that this is the only motif from the theme Sony/MGM could have realistically throw in. The other two ones I mentioned require these chords as an introduction, which takes up over half the time of the spot. The only thing I could see working would be the D-F up to C#-C motif for the final 10 second montage, but even then that's pushing it.

We'll agree to disagree then. I realise those 18 seconds *are* the Bond theme but I don't think here they're that distinguishable from just about every music cue in every short action film promo. Bond fans will get it right away, sure, I don't think the mass audience the marketing presumably is focused around will. The five seconds at the end are the only part that is immediately identifiable as Bond and it's at the end of the ad.

It worked well for the GOLDENEYE trailer, but got old after a while. Naturally.
