Looks like I'll be doing a 30min phone interview with Roger Deakins about SKYFALL on Friday for an HD Video Pro mag article.

Am also hoping to talk with Steve Begg (TOMB RAIDER, CR) about effects work -- there might be miniatures used again in this one -- and a second unit guy or two, but the main focus is Deakins, who in addition to being SERIOUSLY overdue for an Oscar (9 nominations, zero wins) and one of the premiere cinematographers of the day, is also a pretty good interviewee based on past articles.

I've got enough general cinematography questions to fill up most of the interview, but if you can think of some uniquely Bond-specific queries (and where else would I turn but to B&B members?), they'd be welcome, and you can PM them to me if you're so inclined.

That's fantastic, Trevanian.

I'm going to think of a couple and I'll PM you sometime tomorrow with them.

Good luck with the interview! :)

Couldn't think of any questions in time (drat), but I'm looking forward to reading this.

Man there are some well-connected cinema types on this site (Trev, Control...).

Good luck with the intv. Do let us know of any SF info he might leak.

He was playing it very close-to-the-chest on even well-known plot points, so storywise there was nothing (not that I'd tell anyway), but it really sounds like the saturated blue office building sequence is going to be a real eye opener visually.

Definitely have a better feeling about the movie coming out of the interview than going in. I think those inclined to look for subtle cinematic touches will find them, but that neither they nor the lay filmgoer will feel there's anything in the, hmm, call it self-consciously arty vein a la TOSCA in QoS.

Thanks Trevanian for the update. I'm sure that was a fascinating discussion.

No he's not going to spill on plot points. I didn't really think he would. Hardly his place to do that. Looking forward to the saturated blue office building. His cinematography, I figure should make for a very nice looking blu-ray when the time comes, so at the very least when I commence my multiple home viewings, as I get down to the business of "owning" the film, the film should at least look real good.

I'm pretty sure I see this magazine at the newsstands at Penn Station whenever I'm catching a train. I'll pick up this issue once it's released. :)
