Quote :
Adele has confirmed she has recorded the theme for the forthcoming James Bond film, Skyfall.
She posted a picture of the song credits on her official Twitter page, and says recording the track was "one of the proudest moments of my life".
It comes after months of rumours and other people, aside from Adele, discussing it.
Adele's photo appears to show the cover page of the sheet music for the Skyfall theme.
It lists the composers as A. Adkins, the singer's full name, and P. Epworth - the producer and co-writer of her hit single Rolling In The Deep. The photo from Adele's tweet
The music has been arranged by Epworth and film composer JAC Redford, whose credits include The Help, The Iron Lady and Wall-E.
Skyfall will be premiered via the singer's official website at 0.07 BST on Friday 5 October.
The same date marks the 50th anniversary of the release of the first James Bond film, Dr. No.
'77-piece orchestra'
In a statement, Adele said: "I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song.
"But I fell in love with the script and Paul (Epworth) had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end.
"It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I'll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I'm sure!"
Skyfall was recorded at Abbey Road studios in London with a 77-piece orchestra.
Adele first hinted she would be working on the theme song during an interview on Jonathan Ross's chat show on ITV1 in September 2011.
"I'm going back in the studio in November, fingers crossed," Adele told Ross.
"Well this is actually a theme, what I've got to do for, um… Wow. That's really giving something away isn't it?"
Shortly after Adele's appearance on The Jonathan Ross show last September, her friend Tinie Tempah, said he'd spoken to Adele about her Bond recording.
Speaking at the Mercury Prize on 6 September, 2011, the rapper mentioned: "I was with her (Adele) yesterday, she was telling me about it and that's amazing."
He continued: "I've always wanted to do a Bond theme. I'm a bit jealous actually. No, let's leave it to her, it's always a really big diva that does it right?"
Recent Bond themes have met with a poor reception. Chris Cornell's gritty You Know My Name, from Casino Royale, was described as "unexpectedly dull" and "forgettable"; while Jack White and Alicia Keys' duet Another Way To Die, from Quantum Of Solace, was branded "a missed opportunity".
Adele's theme is the first to carry the same name as the film since Madonna's Die Another Day in 2002.
The 23rd Bond film, Skyfall, is due for release on 26 October, 2012 in the UK.

Glad to see it finally confirmed. No brainer really. It had to be Adele. It could be no one else. The producers cocked up by not getting Winehouse on the gig last time round, and also greenlit the worst Bond song of all time, so it looks like this time round all the stops are being pulled out. The producers are giving the fans what they want. Adele was born to sing a Bond song.
Skyfall is looking good so far. The only small gripe I have is Craig's hair being near-on a skinhead, but other than that I am quietly optimistic that this could be one great movie.

Yep, but your one doesn't have pictures or a link to the countdown.

True. Just deleted mine. Maybe I should merge a couple of the other speculative threads as there's so many and leave this one alone as the official confirmation thread, or leave as they are?

I completely agree with you if by "It had to be Adele. It could be no one else. The producers cocked up by not getting Winehouse on the gig last time round, and also greenlit the worst Bond song of all time" you meant "It didn't have to be Adele. It could have been someone else (like MUSE). The producers dodged a bullet by not getting Amy Crackhouse, and instead greenlist one of the best Bond songs of all time." If THAT was what you actually meant, then yes, I totally agree with you.
I don't mean to get all Prisoner Monkeyish on everyone, but just because Adele has "confirmed" via Twitter, an official press release, and her website that she is doing the theme to Skyfall, and just because she posted a picture of her name in the credits to the sheet music of Skyfall, and just because respected entertainment journalists have already listened to a leaked sample from the song with her vocals on it, doesn't mean she's actually doing the theme to Skyfall. Maybe her accounts were hacked. Maybe Roger Friedman is being paid under the table to say Adele is doing the theme song. Maybe Mitt Romney isn't really way behind in all the important swing-state polls. Just sayin'......

Then maybe she also hacked the 007.com site too: http://www.007.com/skyfall-official-theme-song-news/

Au contraire! There was a certain someone who thought it had to be Muse (whatever the hell that is).

Agreed. Much better. It has a touch of TND about it.

Reminds me of Paul Williams's "Old Souls" from PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE.

Eh...I like it up to the point where the Bond theme is sampled. I tend not to care for Bond songs, whether legit or fan-made, which use the Barry's theme as a crutch or an inspiration or a starting point. I like stand-alone songs that can work within the context of the film or make it on their own as a Hot 100 single on the radio. That said...
...this preview is promising. I need to hear the whole thing. Adele is a good choice. My initial preference was MUSE. Would've preferred both artists, really, and had a few more songs on the soundtrack like we got with TLD and LTK, but I'll take what they're giving us. Hope it is a big hit.

 There's nothing James Bondish or Barry-esque about MUSE's latest song. Your comment reminds me of the faux controversy that arose when Kelly Clarkson got mad at her record label for releasing ALREADY GONE around the same time that Beyonce released HALO, because both were written by Ryan Tedder of One Republic and both songs were accused of sounding the same. When I listened to HALO I practically yawned myself to sleep. Talk about a big nothing controversy. They sounded nothing alike, just as MUSE's new single sounds nothing like LIVE AND LET DIE. Someone has implanted the idea into someone else's brain that the two sound similar, and from there the idea went viral. I would have heard zero bit of Bond influence in their new song if someone hadn't brought it to our attention.
MUSE only writes and performs completely 100% original material (except for all of the songs that sound like they were written and performed by Freddie Mercury and QUEEN circa 1980 and Flash Gordon). But other than that, MUSE is totally original.

I'm thinking the track has been pulled down. The first link at Soundcloud that Python posted has already had the track removed, so it looks like her record label has been shooting these website previews down as fast as they come up.

Keep saying that to yourself, but listen to Supermacy's chord progressions and instrumentation (there's strings and brass in live performances, for crying out loud) - Bond, Barry and Arnold are all over it. And yep, the Bond theme does appear at the 1:10 mark.
I'm sure Harms can hear it.

I certainly heard it too, pretty unsubtle of Muse if you ask me. I have no doubt they are going to be playing the hell out of this song on Saturday Night Live when Daniel Craig hosts this Saturday. Will they try pulling a stunt that suggests they should have gotten the gig? Should be interesting.

I continue to like it. It reminded me a little of Scissor Sister's LAND OF A THOUSAND WORDS:
If you've never heard this song or watched this video, I encourage you to do so. I don't think the song LOATW was strong enough to be used in a Bond film, but it is a good song, and the video is total homage to 007 and Maurice Binder's title sequences. The song has a lazy, breezy quality about it, with a hint of Elton John thrown in

This is the first time I've ever heard Adele's voice. It's unusual. And she doesn't sound very British to me. The song, however, could only be for Bond, and while perhaps not a classic, at least sounds like it belongs. It's also refreshingly easy on the ears, which one can rarely say of a Bond track these days.
