| This is a must - the first serious publication from Deighton in 17 years, it's a long essay on his relationships with Ian Fleming and Kevin McClory, and reveals his perspective on the whole Thunderball affair. He also discusses, tantalizingly, his work on From Russia With Love. And it's Deighton, so it's beautifully written and extremely astute:

Thanks so much for the link, JD. That one certainly went under the radar, didn't it? Last I heard LD was working on a book on the history of aero engines, and that was way back in 2006.

| Yes, it has, oddly. It's a story, really:
First serious publication from Len Deighton in 17 years He's self-published it as an ebook It's by Len Deigthon He's discussing the controversial origins of cinematic Bond and his relationship with the key players on both sides He (briefly) discusses his own work on From Russia With Love And it's by Len Deighton
More about it here:

As Rob says, it reads like one of those old Sunday Times Magazine pieces (and some of that is about that topic, in fact). Nearly finished reading it now. |

| ;) I don't mix well with forums, I'm afraid. But this is something I think people here might be interested in. |

Well, neither do I, but CBn is a one-of-a-kind type of place and not all forums are (thankfully) like it. I got banned from CBn by Dustin, the resident Hitler, and told not to return in mid-November 2012, after 10 and a half years of being a contributing member of the site. |

| This is interesting, I was wondering if he was going to write anything about his involvement with McClory, especially in light of the Robert Sellers book. Saw something interesting: Christie's is auctioning an autographed copy of "Warhead" script this month (one was sold in 2008 for a small fortune) this time signed by both Sean Connery and Len Deighton with the cryptic note: "Nothing by me - Len Deighton" Does he talk about this in his book? |
