Four or so episodes into this and quite like it even if Rhys' character sports some of the funniest disguises going. Little trivial aside in seeing Richard Thomas. Bet John Boy Walton was a Commie. :*d*:

I suspect the wigs and disguises are a running gag even amongst the creators of the show. :)

I loved season two.
The way Elizabeth resents her own daughters more comfortable life is an interesting dynamic that I have rarely seen explored on TV.
I was glad that they managed to have Margo Martindale return, even if it was only for a couple of episodes.
Stan's handling of Nina was stone-cold, but perfectly in line with his characterization.
I do hope this does not mean the end of the Nina character though.

Second season was quite good. Didn't get a good showing here in Blighty, bounced around the late night scheduling. Look forward to a third season.

It's only a moderate success - if that - in the US as well, but it seems like the network's head of programming is quite fond of it, which is how it earned a third season in spite of its relatively paltry ratings.

It is a critical darling though.

Ashamed to say I lost interest in this show a little more than halfway through season two. Still have all the remaining episodes saved in my DVR, just haven't felt compelled to get to them.

Still not watched S5, but 'tis the end of The Americans. I shall not miss Miss Paige but one of the best shows nobody watched.

Coming to the end of S5, which has been horribly Paige-centric so I am surprised to find things improving.

E10 Darkroom by the ever reliable Stephen Schiff comes up with a surprising twist on the parent-brat dynamic, while E11 Dyatkovo finally gives us the season's obligatory Elizabeth-as-psycho moment. Philip watches his wife commit murder impassively, even 'though he's become that unsustainable thing: an executioner with a conscience.

As with so many TV shows, The Americans went on for too long. Still, based on these last two episodes, I may hang around the for the final season six. Oh, and good to see the return of the mail robot.

I think part of the problem with season five is that they were ready to conclude the show but had to hit the pause button and didn't really know what to do with the extra season. Season six is better because they are working towards the ending and with fewer episodes, they have far less filler.
