I believe j7wild was a Kennedy...if only you guys knew... j7 was a Dead Kennedy, one of the old drummers. Got kicked out for pasting blowups of Victoria's Secret models over Jello's hotel suite. |

I think I've got a name for that inconspicuous toy in the drawer. |

Yep. 2016 could very well be a re-run of 1992, if Jeb Bush runs against Hillary Clinton. And if Mitt Romney does decide to run again, it will truly mean that the Republican Party has lost all imagination and has completely given up on winning a national election. Romney had two chances at it already, and lost them both. And if you couldn't beat President Obama in 2012 with the issues you had on the plate, what can you win with? |

| Seems like those calling for another Mitt run think his whole platform should be "I told ya Russia was shifty!"
Good luck with that. |

Romney was a terrible candidate and it was frankly an embarrassment to the GOP that they were reduced to trotting him out. I guess Christie would have had a very good shot at both the nomination and the presidency if it was not for the scandals? |

| Getting back on topic, there are unsubstantiated reports that Islamic State beheaded three YPG women in Syria earlier this week. Yet many people still think their government's going to protect them. Meanwhile, the less gullible in the West are getting a cruel lesson on the necessity of self-reliance. |

What exactly are you arguing for Ambler? I ask because I genuinely do not know... |

| That those who place their safety and well-being in the hands of the state are misguided.
That controversial enough for you? |

That controversial enough for you? I don't deem that controversial at all. I once argued on this very forum that anyone who expects the state to make his life tangibly better will end up very disappointed. They are much more likely to muck up those things that do work. e.g. my own new government's intention of destroying our excellent education system. |

| Should the Turks intervene in Kobani? If NATO-member Turkey invades Syria to protect its own border where does that leave NATO as a whole?
There is less ambiguity over the conflict spilling over into Turkey; AFP Agence France-Presse reports Turkey’s Defense Minister Ismet Yılmaz as saying, “If there is an attack, NATO’s joint defense mechanisms will be activated.”

| Shades of the Red Army's halt during the Warsaw Uprising.
It won't happen though. The Turks hate the Kurds and they hate Assad. Unless their own territory is violated, you won't see much from their end I suspect.
It's looking increasingly obvious that ISIS won't be defeated from the air. Already you've had Australian Super Hornets fly an armed mission without so much as expending a bullet due to fears of collateral damage. The blunt truth is, not enough ISIS combatants are being put into wooden boxes. They march on in the meantime. |

That's an interesting analogy. Except, of course, no state of war exists between Syria and Turkey. Declared, at any rate. |

| Abdul-Rahman Kassig in his own words: - Quote :
- Here, in this land, I have found my calling. I have lived a selfish life, I have run until I could not run anymore.
I do not know much, every day that I am here I have more questions and less answers, but what I do know is that I have a chance to do something here, to take a stand. To make a difference. |
