So My City's Underwater

Starting last Thursday Calgary experienced the greatest flood in it's history. Both the Bow and Elbow rivers swelled immensely and most of the downtown core became like a muddy Venice. The neighbourhood I live in was unaffected, but many people were forced to evacuate and the property damage is immense. I myself am off work today and tomorrow because it's physically impossible to get to where I work, as the south and north sides of the city are cut off due to the flood overtaking the bridges.

It's been kind've crazy.

Glad to read your home wasn't hit, FS. I have a few friends in Calgary who were evacuated, albeit they live up high in condos. You see these types of floods happening every spring in places like Manitoba and Czech Republic/Central Europe. I hope it doesn't become a regularity in Alberta - the damage looks really serious.

We had flooding in 2005 and I thought that was bad. I mean, for us it was worse because our street and our house flooded, but overall for the city it was nowhere near as bad as this.
