Hi all please take a look at our E-Bay listing of this very rare and collectable James Bond related book which looks into the novels, films and sub culture created by this amazing character.

Barmasbooks.... I'm going to let this topic stay but have deleted the one in Literary. Everyone is welcome on this forum but please do not make multiple threads on the same topic. This is a discussion forum not a sales forum.

Took me perhaps longer than it should've to realise that the back cover blurb is in fact an ad for another book entirely ... think it may have been its brief mention of Bond that threw me at first.

Yes, but it was a first edition and it is very rare and it is an essential piece for the Bondian library. You do have to weigh all of that up before you buy. smile

Easy assumption to make. That train book advertised on the back does mention both Fleming and Bond and the fact that there are passages from the works of Ian Fleming contained in the Orient Express book, so there is at least some connection with the book. This one should be on all Bond fans' bookshelves as it is essential reading, though rather pricey nowadays.

Looks like this was sold for £70. A bit on the ridiculous side.

I suppose for a first edition it makes sense.

I remember reading this in the early 80s, and when studying media science at uni a couple decades later, this was on the curriculum.

PC, do you recall were the non-Eco essays worth the read?

Eco's is the gold standard -- found easily online -- but I've never seen a report on the other essays in the collection (I assume for good reason?)

I cannot remember, and maybe that is the answer.
