- Mr. Hottelet, the youngest member of the Murrow Boys when he was hired and the last of them still with CBS when he retired in 1985, was a dogged reporter who so angered Nazi leaders while working for United Press in the war’s early stages that he was imprisoned by the Gestapo for four months.
"Play it straight, do not tell them what you think. Do not tell them what you feel. Just tell them what you know." Might be the end of that breed of American journalists. |

A man from the days when journalism was a decent profession rather than something to despise. I cannot abide today's social justice, social engineering warriors that masquerade as reporters. They have no in interest in factual accuracy or ethics and wilfully distort the truth to forward their political agenda. |

Quite agree. What a time to have been a journalist in, the Bulge, D-Day, held by the Gestapo all during one of humanity's greatest episodes. Recall reading how Ed Murrow during a heavy raid in the Blitz, at the BBC, was doing a show or getting ready for one when he saw bodies being carried past and then doing his bit as he would've done anyway, strength and integrity. |
