| Anyone worked out the bullshit about the Spectre ring?
How does Q examine the Octopus ring and do a feeble bit of retcon linking Le Chiffre, Mr White, Greene and Silva? Are they all supposed to have worn the same ring and left traces of their dna? Can't Spectre afford more than one piece of cheap jewellery?

| Only the DNA of Purvis & Wade could come up with that one. |

| Can't wait for Q to get a plastic spatula and delve into the Dog Bond glistening orifice to deduce the DNA of all those she's shagged. Cuz I might have forgotten a name or two. Especially if I had to ask 'is it in yet?' |

| Could it be some kind of digital storage unit?
Then again, it's hard to think that Le Chiffre, Greene and Silva would have used it, considering they didn't know they were a part of something bigger… And we didn't see them with the ring. |

| I'm not sure how the ring worked. It seemed to be a combination of DNA and it being a digital storage unit.
Purvis & Wade explained that Le Chiffre, Greene and Silva knew they were part of SPECTRE. Quantum turns out to be just the South American operation run by Greene. That actually wouldn't contradict with CR so much, because they were left unnamed in that film so you could argue that Le Chiffre and White were part of SPECTRE, and that Quantum was just Greene's thing that got dissolved after Craig shot down that Bolivian job. Greene tells Bond all about Quantum's operation because he knows it's all worthless by that point, but leaves out SPECTRE (who likely sent those men to put the bullets in Greene). |

| SPECTRE's initiation ritual requires the newcomer to... well, do just that. |

| I have been wondering the same, and, if I did not get it very wrong last time I've watched it, it's fingerprints. And doesn't it even prove that Oberhauser is still alive? That's the big moment when Q admits that Bond had been right all along. It still does not make any sense; but fingerprints are at least a better explanation than DNA. I still don't get it why all fingerprints are on the same ring and how you can single them out when there are so many; but let's not get too expectant. At least it explains how they connect them all to one organisation. And I agree, they did all know that they were members of SPECTRE. Mr White did definitely know; he tells Bond so some scenes earlier before shooting his brains out. I am still wondering why Bond steals this ring in the first place. M doesn't tell him to do so. Is it just an impulse? And why do they get the outlandish idea that the ring is the key to all of this? That's just a relic from the old films they have not bothered to introduce properly, because everyone knows anyway. I can't come up with a better explanation. And a piece of superb Q-technology no-one understands anyway. |

| I wouldn't look too closely into SP... It's like it wasn't made to make sense. |

| Yes, now we're on the same side. But that is absolutely Bondian. I am just coming from your discussion about Renard's bullet and we have the same over there. Watching Bond is pretty much turning logic of, isn't it? Please correct me if I'm wrong. But if we do a physical analysis with only one action scene, we will start crying, most likely. I mean, Bond is able to lie down somehow in a gravity-free space to have sex with his girl (MR).
I have a suspicion that SP has a metafictional element to it, in the meaning that it somehow comments about the franchise with these things; but I cannot put my finger on it. SP is somehow too much in this, too overdone with illogical elements. They have obviously failed, because this effect was lost on the audience. Although I have to say that SP is paid relatively much attention to in research. It can't be a complete fail. |

| Someone came up with the amusing notion that the whole of Skyfall after Bond's fall from the viaduct is a dying man's dream. |

There is a similar theory about John Boorman's "Point Blank" which I have always liked. |
