| According to what I read on the internet, it seems that majority tends to prefer SPECTRE.
I think Quantum of Solace was much better. Both had an unfinished script, but at least QoS doesn't feel like they tried to merge two films in one, whereas SPECTRE is a bunch of ideas which were thrown in the lot but were poorly developed. SPECTRE had too many contrivances and plot holes (for example, why does Hinx want to kidnap Madeleine?) and the villain showed no threat (admittedly Dominic Greene was not that menacing either, but QUANTUM as a whole certainly was).

| I will make a judgement once I see SPRECTUM a second time. Overall, both are at the shyte end of the heap. |

| Heh just rewatched Quantum of Solace and the thought popped into my mind as well. I'm inclined to agree that Quantum of Solace is the better film also. I think you're right in the SP had copious plot contrivance and too many times did the characters do things for no apparent reason. QOS has this as well, but not as often as SP.
The way I view Craig's era:
Casino Royale - Not a very good film at all. Quantum of Solace - Feels more like a Bond film, but with an unfinished script. Skyfall - Finally, James Bond at his finest. SPECTRE - Feels more like a Bond film, but with an unfinished script.
So for me, QOS and SP both feel like Bond films at times, but for the reasons that QOS feels like one, SP doesn't, and vice verse. In the 08 film, what draws me to it is the sense of culture that we get to see, even if it's for a very short amount of time. I wish we saw more of Siena, but we got the palio chase and the iconic rooftops of the city put to use. While we get the Day Of The Dead in Mexico, everything else could have happened anywhere in the world. Bond uses his wits more in QOS, with attaching the anchor (god knows how) to the boat, shooting the fuel tank at Perla De Las Dunas, using the failed engine as a smokescreen, evading M's agents over the railings, etc. - using the environment and his intuition. In SP, the only time that springs to mind is when he shoots the gas pipe causing a contrived, delayed explosion and hooking the barrels to Hinx which pulls him out of the train.
I also really like Almaric's Greene. Quantum of Solace is about a corporate takeover which is unseen territory in a Bond film, and feels a whole lot more threatening than the Nine Eyes nonsense, which is ironic given the fact that global surveillance should hit closer to home than what Bolivia's water supply would - but it's always mentioned that Bolivia's water supply is only one phase of more global operation. I do feel as though Quantum could be a subsidiary of SPECTRE, and the Night of the Opera sequence outlines the greater tact of the 60s SPECTRE agents.
I could go on - I have lots of thoughts on this. I'll be interested to see where SP stands once I rewatch that film this year.

| I'd plump for Spectre. Comes across more of a Bond film than QOS did. I at least had a fair inkling of what was going on the first time with Spectre than QOS. Neither though have a suitable song. |

| FieldsMan - I strongly disagree that QoS feels more like a Bond film than CR. In fact, that's one of the reasons I dislike the former so much. I think it feels extremely un-Bond throughout, aside from Tosca maybe.
Vote is for SP, by a few spots on a ranked list. (one is 20's the other high teens). |

| Hmm… For me it's the use of particular locations showing a way of life in each place, the colour in the cinematography, Craig's performance and the writing of the character of Bond for most part, the characters of Fields and Camille, Almaric, General Medrano, the murder/suicide ending with Bond and Camille and as you say, Tosca - all this makes it feel more of a Bond film to me then the thug, juvenile Bond of CR, the 06 film's use of locations, lack of atmosphere and the Americanised look of the film.
Still, I imagine CR, QOS and SP are neighbours on my ranking at the bottom of the barrel. |

| I saw Bond from QoS to be the "juvenile thug" much more than he was in CR. And I also think the writing of the character of Bond in QoS is a far cry from Fleming so it seems we're at an impasse here. Respectfully disagree. I understand the points though (the murder/suicide with Camille I'd also agree as quite Bond feeling).
Fields somewhat. Camille has a bit of what would make a classic Bond girl (both cinematic and Fleming) in terms of how she's written, but I don't think it plays out past the page. |

Where do you see it in QOS? Bond breaking into M's apartment, running through walls, rolling around on the tarmac and storming embassies doesn't quite ring Fleming's Bond to me. Also doesn't strike me as a disciplined Commander, regardless of whether he's just joined MI6 or not. The Bond of QOS seems a lot more grounded and reflective, despite Quantum's manipulation and forcing everyone to think otherwise. |

| I'm with fieldsman in that QOS is the lesser of these two weevils (this is as generic a thug as we get on celluloid) but both overtly still imo insult the character I personally look for/identify as Bond. |

| I'd say fuck 'em both and just watch SKYFALL instead. |
