What was the point of Bond being in the funeral?

At the start of the movie they fake Bond's death, including an entire burial at sea where Bond is wrapped up and dropped into the ocean with a hidden scuba tank.

Was there any legitimate reason to have him actually be present in the funeral? They could have put anything in that wrapping and no one would have known the difference.

The only thing I can think of is that they had to smuggle out his "body" somehow to avoid suspicion and figured why not go ahead and go all the way with it.

Yeah i guess that could be possible. He was probably taken to a morgue after "being shot", and maybe Spectre agents were watching it to make sure he didnt walk out.
