A Private War

Looks excellent. Rosamund is probably the Bond girl to have the best career after Bond. Halle Berry was already an established actress though even she's not getting the roles Pike is getting.

I think Eva Green probably challenges her for that title. I know not everyone likes her here, but she has had a steady Hollywood career ever since "Casino Royale".

Perhaps, though I'm not sure Green's CV compares to Pike's. There's Pride and Prejudice, An Education, Gone Girl, Beirut, A United Kingdom, Johnny English Reborn, The World's End, Jack Reacher, Fracture, etc. Plus, Pike has been nominated for an Oscar. Maybe I'm just more interested in seeing the films that Pike chooses; I'm looking forward to seeing A Private War.

Perhaps Green's focus on television locked her out of doing more. Regardless, both are definitely up there with best post-Bond careers.

I had forgotten about Pike's Oscar nomination for "Gone Girl". That probably pushes her ahead of Eva Green, yeah.

Pike also has a little used trump card -that of being the voice of the new Lady Penelope in Thunderbirds Are Go.

Finally out on DVD here in Oz (shame it's not on blu-ray, as it would have looked spectacular). Riveting war film and Pike gives the performance of her career so far. Finally a perfect marriage between being emotionally available and an excellent American accent. Two scenes particularly when she rawly opens up is compelling and engrossing. Perhaps not entirely original action sequences but the execution is superb, immersing the viewer into the action without the overrated shaky cam nonsense. When the characters tear down a street in a warzone, you're with them. Props to the director.

This is an example of focusing on a complex female lead without gender politics coming into play. More films like this, please.
