Decided to jump on board with Twin Peaks tonight given the news. On episode two right now. Likin' it so far, but I want it to be weirder.

It'll get weirder.
Then it'll get downright stupid.
Then you should check out the film.

Watching the Gold Box. Amazing how well Twin Peaks stands up. And Audrey Horne. Jesus.
Never has a show been more aptly named.

I would have given my left nut for a shot at her during her heyday.
I sold my Gold Box a couple years back, mainly because I found that I only really cared for the first half of season one and only a few episodes from season two. I still enjoy the film version, though. It was supposed to get a quality Blu-Ray treatment years ago, but I guess that never worked out.

So far I've only seen the pilot and 1-6. First time I've seen them since they were aired by BBC1 back when you had to wait a week between episodes. Oh wait. The BBC still makes you do that.

You couldn't be more right. Twin Peaks becomes unwatchable after the first few episodes. History has been very kind to it unlike me. Gone to landfill.

Yesterday, BBC Radio 4 broadcast a heavily trailed documentary on Twin Peaks. A couple of hours before it aired, David Lynch announced he would be no longer involved with the Showtime revival. Instant obsolescence, but here's the link anyway:

I'd heard Lynch had been humming-and-hawing of late about whether he'd be involved or not. Decision made, then.

I was never a fan of the idea of reviving this series. TWIN PEAKS is very popular today and it was obvious that Showtime and those involved wanted to cash in on this.
Lynch obviously did, too, if the price was right. And it wasn't.
The downside: no new music from Badalamenti.

Worst scenario is TP2016 goes ahead without Lynch.

As much as I like Lynch I'm kind of wondering if this whole thing is nothing more than a negotiating tactic. He had to know full and well that there would be a bitter reaction to his departure with Showtime taking the blame.

That might as well be the case. Come to think of it, the timing of all this is really peculiar because of the 25th anniversary of the pilot's airing. I wonder if Lynch knew that claiming he's out of the project combined with the anniversary was a way of racking up publicity for the show.
Whatever the case, I think it's clear with the cast's support of him, Showtime may either have to give Lynch the dough or just scrap it altogether. I hope the former, just so I can see what Lynch cooks up. The film industry is never going to give guys like Lynch a decent budget in this day and age.

Kyle MacLachlan is a notable absentee from the video.
Also 'waitress without uniform' is fine by me.
