"We really are two of a kind" Octopussy at 40 1983-2023

Bit behind on anniversary threads but here be our marker. Aim to do a runthrough like I used to soon.

Octopussy has held a sentimental place in my heart since I was 6 and a bit.

Otherwise chaps, till then if you like it, loathe it as Jack Aubrey said in Master & Commander: "let fly!"

I didn´t catch OP until 84 during a rerun. I saw NSNA first, and my initial reaction was that it was a lot weaker than both NSNA and the previous Moore film, FYEO. I still find it weaker than those two, but not by as much as before. Its main problem is that its silliness is so damn silly, with no redeeming qualities. The characters aren´t that great, either. The villains are fine, I guess.

The pts is great, though and there is some fantastic stunt work in several scenes. I was intrigued by the title when I first learned of it. Was it perhaps the name of a mysterious and sinister organization? That was how my teenage mind worked.

Weirdly, Octopussy was on ITV1 here in the UK between 6:00 and 8:30 am this morning. Don't recall a Bond ever being shown on TV so early before, even at the weekend.

I've seen on BondTwitX that a few films have been shown at stupid o'clock on ITV lately. If say LTK gets butchered for a regular showing, I wonder if it gets trimmed to 45mins for an 8.30 kick off.

Otherwise some delicate flower will be tucking into their Weetabix as Krest launders his money.

Or even worse, squirting ketchup onto their fry-up . Don't think I could bring myself to watch a 'breakfast friendly' version of LTK ... it might anger even more than NTTD.

They were at it again with TLD last Sunday ... 7:00 am.
