Film Magazine Empty
PostSubject: Film Magazine   Film Magazine EmptyThu May 19, 2011 5:01 pm

I've found pleasure in writing about films for quite some time now. After the demise of my film blog, I decided it'd be best not to rely on another website to publish my writings on film, and instead do it myself. After teaming up with a couple of film lovers, we've come up with an idea for a magazine and are currently working to get it moving.

The magazine will be created in Adobe InDesign and readers will view it as a PDF. Currently, the idea is to promote it via social networking websites. I'm going along with that for now, as I know that social networking is a great way to get the word out. My only issue is that I don't necessarily adore social networking sites. laugh If it doesn't end up reeling readers in after the first few issues, I might create a specific site just to launch the PDF every month, or quarterly -- whenever we decide on.

I'm posting this because I'm wondering if any of you would be interested in contributing. There are a number of categories to cover, and since I'm not the fuhrer of the magazine, there is indeed mainstream film coverage. Actually, I think the first issue's lead article will be covering the 30th anniversary of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK. Opposing views are welcome, too. My two collaborators actually had this in mind while creating it, as they know I don't necessarily share the same views as them. So, no one's to say that there could be coverage of a popular film where a contributor glorifies it or demonizes it.

Regardless, I know we've got a bright group of film lovers here, knowledgeable in a variety of areas. If any of you feel that you want to contribute, I'd be happy to read what you're interested in covering. Just shoot me a PM or let me know here.

Great idea, and it sounds fun to contribute. I don't feel I have much to write for a magazine but I'll definitely read it and help promote it and if it ever occurs that I feel I have something to write about I'll chime in and see what you think. Good luck with the project. :)

I'd like to contribute something about film music, though I think you know that already.

That is interesting. Ideally I'd be happy to contribute, but I don't think I'm overly qualified. colly could do nice writeups of older films.

That I look forward to, and perhaps even film in general, even though I don't agree with your views all the time at least they're unique. It beats the typical "it was kewl cuz it had splosions d00d"

I think only one contributor actually has formal film criticism experience, if that's what you call it. The rest of us are just regular folks who like films.

Hell, we've got CASINOROYALE doing the main article.

.... ... .. .

I'd be interested - especially if my first one could be on REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE.

If you need eccentric stuff I could do a bit.I did some film bits for the uni' newspaper (Star Wars 30 and a pro-OHMSS piece, both scrapped by the editor) ages ago.

But it sounds interesting the idea, Brown, regardless. :)

I don't think I could write anything particularly substantial but I'd love to see what you guys come up with. :)
