| The scene you never expected in a Bond movie the first time you saw it.
Mine would include Jaws popping open the champagne and then speaking in Moonraker..."well...here's to us."
Did anyone actually see that in a cinema back in 1979? How did the audience react to hearing Jaws talk?

| Yep I saw it in theatre. I can't remember exactly. The whole movie was one big crowd yakfest as was TSWLM, so I'm sure they all laughed on cue. Anyway what I remember most was my gf not being impressed. MR was way too cartoonish for her tastes so there were no laughs from her - just withering looks and the sure knowledge that she would be picking the next film, which turned out to be Kramer Vs Kramer which was pure torture for my teenage self to sit through. She even found it to be rather over drawn drama, so we called it even. I did see MR in theatre probably about 4 times (the other times minus gf) and I do remember it was a huge crowd pleaser so I'm sure Jaws and his busty new paramour got full laughs when he finally spoke.
My most schocking scene in a Bond movie was when Pierce started making out with cheeky MP in DAD. I knew there had to be a catch like one of them was dreaming or something, until the big simulation reveal and we could all relax in our seats. However with that crazy film, you couldn't be sure it wasn't real. |

| Grant killing the man disguised as Bond in the PTS of FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE was somewhat surprising.
Same goes for Bond's "death" in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE.
I was rather young when I first watched both of these films (probably 12 or 13), so I didn't know what to expect from them. |

| A VIEW TO A KILL:"I see you're a *woman* of very few words.".
"What is their to say?"
CASINO ROYALE: The film ends. |

I was rather young when I first watched both of these films (probably 12 or 13), so I didn't know what to expect from them. Bond was killed twice in these early films. His death was also briefly hinted at in the TB pts with the shot of the JB initials on the coffin, before the camera panned to the very much alive Bond looking on from above. And in DAF Sean was stuffed in a coffin, in quiet repose, looking very dead, until he woke up inside the furnace. A good video editor could take these scenes from FRLW, TB, YOLT and DAF ( interestingly- allSean films) edit the segments together and call it the Death of James Bond. It could be quiet convincing with appropriate music. We have two scenes of Bond actually being killed and a couple of good coffin shots. |

That running shtick was Harry's idea. The great unloved. Something died in the series when he left, as much as I have a soft spot for MOONRAKER and a few others. |

Yes, there is a real pattern of playing at Bond's death in the Saltzman films. It did provide some schock value and a little extra dose of macbre or benign bizarre. |

| A youngster I was a shocked and surprised by Sir Godfrey's death in A VIEW TO A KILL. You introduce one of most likeable characters in the film, only to kill him off in a bleeding car wash. Not on. |

Indeed, though I remember saying to my Dad when I first saw it saying why is the music doing what it's doing: "Something bad's going to happen." Vijay's in Octopussy hit me for six. |

| Paris' death for me, and Elektra's turn back when I was a wee lad… Though I still hope Elektra's betrayal doesn't happen each time I watch it! But Vijay's, Godfrey's and even Helga Brandt's as well. I really felt sorry for her back in the day. Depending on my mood, sometimes even now... |

| Mine was Blofeld's reveal in DAF, mostly because I had read that he died at the beginning of the movie, so I didn't expect him to appear later. |

| Where to begin?
At the beginning, I suppose.
Bond shooting Dent (iconic, yes, but not the act of a gentleman spy...oh, he's not? Okay, I get it now.) J.W. Pepper in Bangkok. This sort of thing became a staple later, but this was the first. Jaws switching sides. To this day -WTF? Roger Moore, in a clown suit, playing it straight. Tanya Roberts. Bond making mistakes (granted, his best friend had just been maimed, and he made up for for those mistakes with some quick thinking, but still...) Bond captured, incarcerated and unkempt for a prolonged period. A running time of 105 minutes.
'nuff for now. |

| I thought you meant Olga Kurylenko, but I wasn't sure. And I thought she had money for Slate (or, rather, for the geologist that Slate was replacing, except that Bond replaced Slate...oh, never mind). |

| There wasn't anything in the briefcase except a gun and a photo of Camilleā¦ It was just a set up to get Slate to kill Camille, or Camille to get Slate (if she found out) - Greene knew that they were both going behind their back. |

| Probably the directors cut of Skyfall. TBH, I can't see what's artistic about Bond felching M, but what do I know? |
