xxx Perhaps, but it's also an example of how haphazard Eon approaches its movies. Bardem only confirmed he was in Bond 23 because Christianne Armanpour happened to ask a throw-away question at the end of an interview devoted to another subject. Technically, Eon has *only* confirmed Craig in Bond 23 (in the very brief press release when the release date for Bond 23 was referenced). No other actor was mentioned. Judi Dench made her own announcement (during at least two separate interviews) almost as if she were jumping up and down, "I'm in it! Don't forget about me!" I know, I know. "Eon will do its normal, classy press conference. Why bother doing anything else?" Maybe because it's the 21st Century and there are new tools available. |

| I agree Napoleon, and I believe the other cast members not confirmed their roles, because they hasn't been properly asked yet, right?

xxx Maybe because the contractual ink hasn't dried on the dotted line yet. Maybe then we'll hear more from Naomie Harris. |

I can't imagine Bond being advertised on facebook & twitter to the same obnoxious extent that a lot of other big films are. Fancy-schmancy mindfuck marketing techniques may be the thing for Nolan, Fincher, or Abrams movies, but I don't mind Bond keeping it old school with 20th century press conferences and video blogs - if that's what they'll do again. |

"It's the future, get used to it." Oops, I guess you don't. More seriously, which is better -- a haphazard (well, we'll eventually get around to it during our press conference and if actors make their own announcements, so be it) approach or new tools that rub some people the wrong way? I'm not sure Eon is so much old school as complacent. But that's just my opinion. Put another way, if you're Eon do you want to spring the news that Bardem is in your cast? Or do you want to leave it to chance? (which is what appears to have happened in this case) Eon seems to feel it's above it all. Maybe it was in 1965. |

| One more thought: if you want to market a movie the "old school" way, you might want to discourage your leading man -- arguably the face of the franchise -- from dropping 18 f-bombs into one interview. Yes, I know he's an actor and not really James Bond. But that August article in Esquire didn't exactly come across as classy:

| Hopefully he has some good material to work with. Very excited to see Bardem play the villain.
Fiennes....not so much. |

Agreed. I would, however, like to see Eon do their press conference before the dramatis personae steal its thunder. Strikes me as a bit silly to keep everybody in the dark for so long. As to Bardem's participation in B23, this is the best thing the film has going for it at this point. |

| This is terrific news. Bardem is always good news. So long as he doesn't have a bowl cut. |

Yeah, and men pay women to leave, not for sex. ;) Actors are whores; if the price is right they'll do it. I'm sure the script for COWBOYS AND ALIENS had "Oscar" written all over it when he accepted. |

Or putting on a cheap wig, high heels, an ugly dress (that was out of season when he wore it and it clashed with his hair color anyway) and enough make-up to shame Tammy Faye Bakker (if she were alive and could be shamed). |

| Bardem is a terrific actor and I'm delighted he's been cast but I'm a tad concerned that this is another example of EON cashing in on recent Academy Awards successes, after hiring Paul Haggis. Not good. |

| It's progress of a kind. Naturally a case of waiting to see how he turns out. In terms of Oscar winners, he might end up better than Halle Berry. |

| Bardem's incapable of doing worse than Berry. I have every confidence that he will be a tremendous asset to B23. |
