| Just began reading this. It is absolutely brillaint. I'm 6 or 7 chapters in and I love it so much. I love Grant's character and his psychological insanity. The idea of his "feelings" and the full moon creeped me out. Fleming was a genius.

| This is my favorite Bond novel.
The literary device of keeping our hero hidden for the first act is a risk, and it works brilliantly. |

| Give it a 9. The whole set up with SMERSH scheming was well written and really pulled me into the world of Bond. |

| The final scene is the most striking moment and sometimes I think it's a shame that Fleming didn't end the series here as he so clearly intended.
For me this is the last of the classic Bonds. Thereafter one felt that Fleming was writing them more for Casper's trustfund than himself. |

| Perhaps but even then he still wrote some solid stuff, even if YOLT became too much of a travelogue in some parts. |

Would have loved if the film ended in a cliffhanger, too. |

| The book's first act is one of the highlights of the series for me. The introduction of Grant, General G, the whole plot by SMERSH being formulated. Absolutely gripping. |
