I won't bother with a Top Ten list; some people have more, some people have less. But if you knew you'd be stuck on a desert island for the rest of your life, what songs would you want with you? Here are my must haves:
#1 More Than A Feeling (1976) - BOSTON #2 Turn to Stone (1977) - ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA #3 Manhattan Skyline (1986) - A~ha #4 Uprising (2009) - Muse #5 Unfinished Sympathy (1991) - Massive Attack #6 Wait For You (1989) - Bonham
#7 Don't Bring Me Down (1979) - ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA # 8 Creep (1992) - Radiohead #9 Funky Town (1987) - Pseudo Echo #10 In A Big Country (1983) - Big Country # 11 Wild Boys (1984) - Duran Duran

Very very difficult choice.
I'm going to go with the first things that come to mind.
- Queen - The Prophet Song - Queen - The Show Must Go On - Queen - Brighton Rock - Ultravox - Hymn - Ultravox - One Small Day - Ultravox - Serenade - Maria Callas - Softly Awakes My Heart - Jussi Bjorling and Robert Merrill - Au Fond du Temple Saint - Maria Callas - The Shadow Song - Joan Sutherland - The Mad Scene from Lucia di Lammermoor
I'm sure I could double it.

Jeff Lynne was a right tit, though the music wasn't any better because of it.

I thought the simplest way to actually list favourites (from an otherwise enormous selection of choices) is to list one song per artist.
Girls On Film Night Version - Duran Duran Heart - Pet Shop Boys Policy of truth - Depeche Mode Tom Sawyer - Rush No One Like You - The Scorpions The Phantom And The Opera - Iron Maiden Burn - The Cure Hangar 18 - Megadeth Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve Major Tom - Peter Schilling It's My Life - Talk Talk Live To Tell - Madonna Don't think of Me - Dido Possession - Sarah McLachlan Wish I Could Fly - Roxette Are you Happy Now - Michelle Branch Wonderful - Adam Ant Broken Land - The Adventurers Babe - Styx Big In Japan - Alphaville Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood I Won't Bleed For You - Climie Fisher Urgent - Foreigner Special - Garbage No Promises - Ice House Valotte - Julian Lennon Another One Bites The Dust - Queen It's Been Awhile - Staind Drive - REM When Doves Cry - Prince SOS - ABBA More Than A Woman - BeeGees Run to you - Bryan Adams

Trying to listen to that tune but I'm getting no sound. I'm posting from my iPhone 4S, and all of the volume levels I'm aware of are at peak. Have no headphones attached. What am I doing wrong?
I was, but I upgraded about 3 Saturdays ago. Definitely an improvement.
You were right about that mute toggle switch - never noticed that before. Working fine now.
It's a decent song, but I'm not keen on that sawtooth synth line. Sounds a bit weedy, though that might just be Utube's compression. Will compare on Spotify.

Good call on Schilling's "Major Tom." Bowie never did anything so good.
Bowie never did anything for me. I like "Fame" and "Golden Years" tolerably well, but they're his tops, IMO. And neither can touch Schilling's "Major Tom."
