| Actually no. I think it looks like it could be really good. I was skeptical of a Nolanized Superman, but the pieces seem to fit together from what I've seen in that video.
I still think "realistic" and "Superman" aren't perfect fits, but the movie just looks like it may work. |

| I have faith in Snyder.
My biggest concern is with Goyer's script. The man can only write trailer dialogue. |

| I agree on that. Whatever shortcoming people say it has, I really loved WATCHMEN. |

| I admit to looking forward to it.
Even if Goyer isn't a great writer, he's a better writer than director (Blade Trinity, anyone?)

| I've heard it's more or less exactly what you'd expect from a Nolanized Superman.
I hope I like it, but right now, I'm not feeling it. Nothing about the aesthetic of the movie screams "Superman" to me. |

And I've heard that the fastidious desire to base everything in reality is entirely absent. Or at least used to keep Zack Snyder's obsession with making a candy-coloured kaleidoscope of explosions! and ADHD in check. |

| Still not really sold on the 'look' of the suit, but with more recent footage making this look more like what you'd expect from a summer superhero flick (as opposed to that early trailer that mostly seemed to want to make it look like a moody arthouse job) I'm thinking I might give this a go. |

| Reviews have pretty much confirmed my fears. They're mostly positive, but nevertheless many reviews note that the film is grim, joyless, and exhausting. |

I'll be passing on MAN OF STEEL unless I hear some very good reports - very good ones indeed, that is - from the likes of you, Harms. For me there is only one SUPERMAN - the 1978 flick. I see no need for anything else. |

| Yeah, Donner's SUPERMAN is likely to be the best we'll get. |

| I really liked Nolan's take on Batman but it fit Batman because the batman comics have always been extremely dark.
I'll be really disappointed if the new Superman is as grim as the Batman trilogy was. Nevertheless as a comic book fan I'll be heading off to see it on opening night. |

I'd agree with praising it if the damn third act wasn't such a mess and Luthor wasn't such a joke (even if Hackman's performance is pretty decent). SUPERMAN II fixes some of those problems, but is a huge big mess on it's own terms as well (although I'll take Donner's version over Lester's anyday). SUPERMAN III has a good subplot and terrible main plot, SUPERMAN IV is a complete waste, Brandon Routh and Kevin Spacey would be great as Clark and Lex in a movie that was actually well written but RETURNS was a turd, so honestly the only theatrical SUPERMAN I can say I enjoy without caveats so far is the Fleischer shorts. (Because let's not even talk the Kirk Alyn serials and the George Reeve feature -- the serials are fun but repetitive and MOLE MEN is mindnumbingly dull). So here's hoping for MAN OF STEEL, which looks like the first two acts of SUPERMAN meets the third act of SUPERMAN II. |

| A Mondo poster that proves that I'd like the look of the new super-suit a lot more if they just turned up the damn colour saturation: |

I said it was likely to be the best we'll get, not the best I could imagine. ;) That said, Hackman's Luthor--and the film's third act--bothers me much less than it did once upon a time. What still drives me up a wall is "Can You Read My Mind?" - Loomis wrote:
