| A treasure trove of the greatest moments in western cinema, the greatest being the aforementioned "Bitches leave."
Robo shooting a guy's balls off is also worthy of Bergman. |

| I honestly think Bergman is worthy enough to be compared to Veerhoven. |

| He should do Bond 24. Maybe we'd get some humour and sexuality then.
Sexuality that isn't Dan's bulging speedo.
Daniel Craig is Paul Verhoeven's James Bond in
SPLATTERTITS

| I didn't think time had been particularly kind to ROBOCOP the last time I sat through it (which was a year or so ago). It no longer seems especially clever or shocking.
BASIC INSTINCT holds up surprisingly well, though (thanks in no small measure to good old Michael Douglas), while HOLLOW MAN is something of an overlooked gem. |

Perhaps, but is PSYCHO still as shocking today as it was to cinema audiences back in 1960? I think ROBOCOP's strong point is its satire and slapstick humour. In that regard, I don't think it dates too bad. BASIC INSTINCT is alright, but it's let down by Sharon Stone. Have you seen BLACK BOOK? It's great. Carice Van Houten should be in a Bond film. |

I don't think time has been kind to it, either (though I still love it), but the scene where Murphy gets his half his body shot off still has some shock value to me, at least. |

It's retained more of its power to shock than ROBOCOP has done. - Sharky wrote:

| No Strings Attached (2011)
starring Natalie Portman
3.75/5
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1411238/
compared to 2 other movies I watched in the past 2 months, of the same genre with similar stories, Friends With Benefits with Mila Kunis and Love And Other Drugs with Anne Hathaway;
I enjoyed this one more!!
Between Mila and Anne and Natalie, I take Natalie first!! |

not too bad. Costner vaguely surprising. It's no Dances With Wolves but then what is? Music was none too shabby and the final gunflight vicious. |

And don't forget Gene Coon wrote it. In between saving McHALE'S NAVY and putting STAR TREK on the right path. Not according to Siegel's autobiography. IIRC, he claims he wrote it, but let Coon keep the screencredit. - Sharky wrote:

At least she's in the Hairy Snatches thread. |

| The Abominable Snowman (1959)
Lesser known Hammer film adapted from a TV play, and therefore somewhat talky and stagebound in a few areas but thanks to Peter Cushing's realiably excellent perfomance and Nigel Kneale's source script its is atmospheric and engaging in a way that more than makes up for it's budget restrictions. Sadly the dvd transfer is rather poor. 7/10 |

Tux, have you finally seen SHOWGIRLS? I saw it in the 90's, but not since then. Shoulda won BREAST WINNER for 1995. Gigi (1958) I guess you could say I watched it. It was on the TV next to my laptop. That's good enough for me when the film bores me out of my skull. Ugh, what the Oscars have inflicted upon me. I'm greatful that this quest to see every Best Picture winner has introduced to me a few great films, but I've had to wade through a lot of shit to get to them. Count is at 62/83. |

| Been meaning to revisit my Wes Anderson's and with the Moonrise Kingdom trailer upon us, why not now
Bottle Rocket compared to what came after is small, streamlined in terms of cast yet is unashamedly typical of what would become Anderson's work. The use of music, the camera work even the Wilson brothers and of course, James Caan. |

| Prime Cut (1972)
Saw it a few months ago, but I had to see it again so I bought the DVD and gave it a spin. Love this movie, so f***ed up.
Who do I contact to get a young Sissy Spacek for my own personal use? Just love her. One of my favorite actresses, up there with Ellen Burstyn. Would really like to get a hold of the score.
Damn, the link doesn't work: http://elysiumsound.blogspot.com/2009/06/lalo-schifrin-prime-cut-soundtrack.html
But maybe it's out there, somewhere. |

Then I thought of Lee Marvin and started eating meat again. |

Enjoyable. But I can't help but feel the film is less than the sum of its parts.
The sequence between the dinner and the murder though is terrific. |
