I wonder if the US will get a similar set? If not, this is a perfect excuse to splurge and buy a region-free player.
If we do get a similar set in the US, I imagine the packaging will be shit. The packaging we're getting is utter shit. All show, no functionality. I'd rather they just slap some standard cases into a box with a decent design. I'm interested in the booklets. But, I hope they're filled with interesting information, rather than generic facts dug up from IMDB's trivia section.
And wasn't there a VERTIGO DVD that included the mono mix as an optional audio track? In the Masterpiece Collection, VERTIGO has mono. It's a shame that it's a bit scratchy, but I really do not like the new audio track created in the 90's. It just sounds horrible to my ears. I don't really have a problem with NBNW's stereo track, but VERTIGO's just sounds so off to me. I literally can't watch the film with that audio. As for upgrading, I'd be most interested in REAR WINDOW, VERTIGO, THE BIRDS, and MARNIE. I would love to see THE BIRDS in HD, much like I've been meaning to MOONRAKER in HD, for the effects. |

| Would love to see DIAL M FOR MURDER in 3D, in the theater. I don't have a 3D TV and I don't know anyone that has actually one. |

| Here's the shittier US version of the Hitchcock Blu-Ray set: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Alfred-Hitchcock-The-Masterpiece-Collection-Blu-ray/45102/ They may want to rework the text on the front of the set. |

They may want to rework the text on the front of the set. Actually, I don't mind the box art. But it has NBNW? That's Warner Bros. :?: Well, I may get this. I'll see if any of them are available seperately, as what I really want are a few titles over some others. I'm in wait and see mode. And it's probably either this or the Bond Blu-ray set, which I'm also up in the air about. Hard to believe it's been 6 years since I've upgraded for Bond. It was 6 years before that that I first got the DVDs. I'm on the fence about both sets. |

They may want to rework the text on the front of the set. Much prefer that packaging other than the mentioned awkward typesetting. Tehehe cock. |

| Yeah, I don't get the point of how his name is arranged. Might as well title another director's blu-ray set as:
STEVEN SPIEL BERG
I'm tempted to get the set, but I'll probably just get a couple of titles. |

| Maybe not immediately, but they'll definitely get it soon I think. Happens all the time with these kinds of movie sets. |

| Just that it's a Universal boxset and NBNW is Warner Bros. Just kinda odd that it's in the set. Not that I'd complain if I were to pick it up. Best Buy had NBNW on Blu for 10 or so a few weeks back. Nearly got it, but I'm not gonna upgrade everything. Watched some of MARNIE a while back and it doesn't look so great on my HDTV. A lot of the color ones from the Masterpiece set don't. The PSYCHO Blu-ray is astounding. I dunno, I'm gonna wait and see if they annouce seperate releases. Knowing Universal, they'll do what they did last time and withhold seperate releases for REAR WINDOW, VERTIGO, PSYCHO, and THE BIRDS. It would not surprise me if VERTIGO is an exclusive with this set because they can be bastards like that. |

| Criterion just released THE 39 STEPS on Blu-Ray. That's definitely worth adding to a Hitchcock collection. By the way, Tux, I wish your avatar was an actual Criterion release. |

Saw THE FURY the other day.. Nice score, but the film's an incoherent mess. It hints at so many things, but never fulfils them. The subtext was pretty vague too, though that's really John Farris's fault, not De Palma's. Though I admit I loved the bit the senile old lady and Kirk, letting her family stay tied up while she ignores them. |

| I have the DVD of it as well. Not gonna upgrade, though I love the film.
As for THE FURY? Flawed, but I enjoyed it a lot. Quite liked Fiona Lewis.
In other De Palma news, I'm watching MURDER A LA MOD. Zzzzzzzzzzzz. |

| It's got some great shots (standard with De Palma), but, yeah, it's a little dry.

| From IGN, welcome news of some more classic releases....

This week, Universal has revealed their plans to release an equally impressive, 8-film Blu-ray collection highlighting Universal's famed movie monsters! The set, titled Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection, will arrive on Blu-ray October 2, 2012.
