Geesh. It was a joke. (Thanks to whomever changed what I said.)

I'm surprised that no one at WB has figured out to just give the animation guys a chance to do a big budget live action thing. They've always been producing superior work.
That would be awesome. I wouldn't even be disappointed with an animated feature but that would never happen.

I was thinking the same thing about Superman. But I guess the higher the budget, the less talented the writers. See, the studios are not generally run by smart people with taste, like us. :)

Live action MASK OF PHANTASM, just to see how bad it can be fucked up.

I know studios are notorious for fucking up remakes, but I don't think any executive has actually sat down and say "Let's remake this movie simply so that we can see how much it can be fucked up".
Then again, it is Hollywood. The actual conversations probably go along the lines of "Let's remake this movie simply so that we can see how much it can be fucked up before somebody else does it".

In all seriousness, it'd be interesting to see it done as a live action film. Can't imagine it'd be as good, though. Plus, Shirley Walker's no longer around to compose.
I agree with FS that it's the best of all of the Batman films.

For some reason, the Phantasm as a villain does nothing for me.

I'd like to see WB do a Batman Beyond movie next.
For a few reasons: 1. to avoid another origin story or an imitation of Nolan's general aesthetic, 2. so that the film can feel like a progression of the Batman story already told, without being definitely bound to Nolan's universe, and 3. to give Batman a more fantastical tone so he can play better alongside the other DC heroes in the eventual Justice League movie.
JGL can star, or not. More likely not.
Oh, and get Clint Eastwood for Old Bruce before he dies.

Good suggestions. I would certainly not be opposed to a Batman and Beyond film. But I just can't help but feeling bad for JGL if he doesn't get to suit up as Nightwing. It's such a set-up for further adventures that it makes me wish Nolan's wishes were considered. I felt that way after SUPERMAN RETURNS, wanting to see more of Routh as Superman, and we know how that turned out.
But a futuristic Gotham, in the mold of Blade Runner, would be very interesting.

I was just talking to my friend about a BATMAN BEYOND movie starring Clint Eastwood. Who would be Terry McGinnis? Joseph Gordon-Levitt is too old. It would have to be someone in early twenties, maybe late teens if they can find the right person.

Rumors now swirling that we may not see Batman again until around 2019.
Best to just wait an entire generation (15+ years) before rebooting it again so the Nolan's fan-boys will have whithered away and died!

I'd say it's best to shelve it for now. I'm all for a Batman reboot, but I don't want a rushed one. And I want a completely different creative team on the job. Hell, by that time I might have a chance. ;)

Bloody reboots ... are modern-day franchises really seen to have no 'life' beyond 3 or so instalments before starting all over again? :pale:

But with Batman, another direction is needed. The Nolan one is played out.

We have seen both the "campy" and "serious" sides of Batman on film so I guess Batman Beyond is the only way they can go forward but I think Batman needs to rest for a few years now. It can't evolve like Bond has for 50 years.
