[Spoilers] "Mi6 AGENTS" on YouTube

What does everyone think of this piece of the plot, where the names and faces of Mi6 agents are thrown on YouTube by a user named "visla". The videos are titled MI6 AGENTS, as you see in the image above.

In my opinion, I think...

In all seriousness, it's a bit stupid, isn't it? A villain gets a hold of important information like this and uploads it to YouTube? As if Google wouldn't follow the British government's orders to take it down and hand over all information to Mi6 regarding any person who viewed the videos.

This must be a Purvis & Wade element, because it's so fucking stupid.

I'll reserve judgement until I've seen the film, thank you.

Information is the new artillery, and Silva so far doesn't seem like the type to want to hold this info over M's head for the sake of blackmail. It's his weapon, so he uses it out of spite.

Only one person has to see and download it for the damage to be done.

Yup, even when MI6 has Google delete the video the damage is already done. I don't see what's so absurd of it, it's basically Silva extending the middle finger at the British government.

I just think Mi6 would have the resources to track down whoever watched the video, which would help them nab a few terrorists. It's not like Google isn't familiar with tracking people, anyway.

Unless Silva's idea is to demonstrate to M that he does in fact have the drive and is prepared to share it with anyone who wants it, thereby starting a bidding war between Al Quiada and MI6?

Oh, never mind. Control probably knows more about YouTube and Google than I do. If he says posting the info there - even briefly - is a pants idea, it must be.

Have you seen the domestic trailer? Like I said, M watches the video. She is the only person to do so - that's what the one view is. Then the screen cuts to THINK ON YOUR SINS, and we see the explosion at Vauxhall Cross. It's clearly a message to M, meant to induce a state of panic. Silva probably doesn't care if MI6 come after him - in fact, it's probably what he wants.

Based on the dialogue between him and Bond, the agents in the YouTube video could very well be dead long before their faces were even posted to YouTube. Silva clearly has a grudge against M, and refers to himself and Bond as "the last two survivors". Between that and THINK ON YOUR SINS, Silva clearly holds M accountable for something that happened to him.

Maybe the video isn't public. In Youtube, you can put the video hidden or privated. In the first case, anyone can see it, but only if he knows the link. If the video is privated, then the uploader can decide who can watches it.

That said, if Silva also went on Facebook, I'd accept a friend request from him, on the sole basis that his performance looks like the only good thing in the film.

Why not just have Silva go on Facebook and click "like" on Bin Laden, Al Quaida, then post his status as "about to blow up half the world" while he's at it. That's why Pervert & Waste are sh**e, they're more fanfiction writers and Bond fans than they are established thriller writers. They had no suitable credentials whatsoever before being employed by Bond, and it's shown in all of their work for the series thus far. What's bizarre is that they were hired on the back of their drama credentials, yet their "drama" is the worst element in all of their Bond work. All they do is come up with a few fanwanking "sensational elements" (M gets kidnapped, Bond gets captured for a year and grows a beard, Bond "becomes Bond", MI6 has one traitor or more in practically every f*cking film, M gets her house and computer broken into, M swears, M loses a whole f*cking drive full of terrorist infltrators, M faces personal demons and has the whole plot based around her then probably gets killed) and then stick a pretty mundane script around it full of unspontaneous forced-sounding "drama" dialogue and OTT action.

Exactly. But this is only the tip of the iceberg, trust me.

tbh there's no indication they aren't leaked everywhere else as well...the appearance on Youtube is simply an easily recognised metaphor which shows the information is the polar opposite of secret or secure.

However it does now illicit the amusing image of some top spy being consigned to the computer all day feeding in youtube searches of <enemy organisation> just in case someone spills the beans.

Yes, CASINOROYALE would have been mocked for it. But it wuld have less to do with the idea of a villain leaking classified information onto YouTube, and more to do with the way the villain does it. Knowing CASINOROYALE, his story would likely involve the villain hacking the internet to do it. Which internet, you ask? All of them.

Did anybody else notice that there's only eight names that get leaked? There are ony eight videos down the side menu.



M gets videos showing the names and faces of eight agents, followed by the message THINK ON YOUR SINS. Cut to an explosion at MI6, and there are eight agents killed in the attack. Coincidence?
