The gun barrel sequence with the white dot fading and segueing into that first frame would still had worked.

Now if it segued directly into the image you posted, then that's a different story.

Another possibility: go back to From Russia With Love or Goldfinger. Bond shots in the gunbarrel, gunbarrel becomes a white dot again, disappears and screen is black for a moment. Then have the first shot. You'd have the gunbarrel at the start and have the fancy first shot of the movie.

I agree, mendes is an idiot, the gunbarrel should've been at very beginning opening up with, craig, aka bond in the blurry distance in the hallway with the shooting stance!!!

There Should be 2 gunbarrels, 1 to open the film like the 20 films before & 1 to close the film like in skyfall before the great bond theme & closing credits!!!

Everyone want the Gunbarrel back on the Beginning set of the end like Quantum of Solace&Skyfall. What ever it is I just want the actor no double like early day doing the part. All of the other James Bond did it. Sean Connery only went from Thunderball to Diamond are Forever Bob Simmon was performance on gun barrel double was terrible That all I got to say. So Like From before Current Bond doing the gun action on the Gunbarrel no matter what way.
             

I find the gunbarrell at the end as fitting as the one at the beginning. They shouldn´t change it now after three films.
What I find much more important is the length or massivity of the pts. They should take care that the titles don´t run in the middle of the film, especially if directly after there is another big action scene. The last three films were on the safe side one way or the other.
