JURASSIC WORLD (2015, dir. by Colin Trevorrow)

Is this going to be a reboot, or something? The Wikipedia page lists Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, Ian Malcom and Dennis Nedry as being in the film, all with "TBA". Are they recasting the roles, or is this a reboot? Can't say I'd mind one, though I demand that at least some of the dinosaurs be animatronic, like in the first three films.

From what I know, it's a sequel.  I've heard nothing of a reboot.

Can't say I'm very interested in seeing it.  Just don't care.

It's a sequel. The story is set years after the previous JURASSIC PARK films, when the dream of the park has been realized and is now operating as a fully functional tourist attraction (complete with dino rides). Things go wrong, of course.

I haven't read any script. That's just the premise as reported by a few different sources (back when this film was getting ready to shoot and was suddenly postponed).

Wasn't that over four years ago? It's probably changed by now. I remember reading that the Total Recall remake would actually take place on Mars.

No, it was just a few months ago. Same director, same screenwriter.

JURASSIC WORLD is the name of the new park.

Well, hopefully, it's good. Not every franchise can come back after fourteen years.

I'll wait and see how it shapes up. If Goldblum returns, then it has my interest.

I'd like to see Goldblum and San Neill return for the film. Those two had great on-screen interaction.

And...a passable soundtrack.

Who ever said it was the same island? We could be looking at a third island with dinosaurs on it.

Just as long as Téa Leoni isn't in it, I'll be happy to see it.

But, William H. Macy was one of the best parts of the third film.

If it's a sequel, how can the non-surviving Nedry be in it? Unless they happened across a DNA sample somehow preserved in amber ...  

Maybe they'll reveal that he survived, somehow. It'll be bullshit if they do, but, what the hell, people die in Resident Evil all the time, and they still keep coming back.

Maybe Nedry's identical twin brother? I honestly don't really, as long as it means more screentime Wayne Knight. Great comic actor.

That reminds me - you know who'd love to see as the villain in JURASSIC WORLD? John Lithgow. He has the right combination of menace, charm and camp to make 'in it for the money' fluff like this work.

I'd love to see Robert Downey Jr. as the villain. He'd be great as a character based on the novel version of John Hammond, who was a cockbite that couldn't stand his grandkids and was just in it for the money.

It won't surprise me. You'd think they'd honor Stan Winston and Michael Crichton and do it right, like they did in the first three.
