Paloma Faith probably won't sing the Bond 25 theme song, now.

Justin Bieber's time has come. He's hit his thirties by now hasn't he?

As long as those backing singers are involved too.

And Ed Sheehan has revealed he has written a Bond song "just in case" he is approached by the Bond team. Anyone who wants to do a Bond theme and worked with Eminem doesn't exactly scream confidence, in my eyes.

Ed Sheeran is just sort of blandly everywhere, like ginger wallpaper.

Such range! Such timbre! Clearly France Has Talent.

Actually, that doesn't sound like a bad name for a Bond Girl. Guess EON didn't see this video when they auditioned her. Is that even her voice?

Whether through bad judgment or poor representation, Scorupco made some frankly mind-boggling career decisions, passing on both "L.A. Confidential" (the role that earned Kim Basinger an Oscar) and "The Mask of Zorro" (the role that made Catherine Zeta-Jones a star) whilst somehow agreeing to "Reign of Fire". And I say this as someone who has something of a weak spot for that dragon movie.

I knew about Zorro but not LA Confidential. She would have skyrocketed had she done one of them.

I thought I had read somewhere back a long time ago that Campbell wanted her for Zorro but the studio didn't think she was right. He eventually got his way and cast her in VERTICAL LIMIT 2 years later.
I liked the idea of REIGN OF FIRE; parts of it at least. The post-apocalyptic angle I thought was too depressing and I would've gone in a different direction. It came across as MAD MAX with dragons. But I can't blame her for joining the project; it had Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey and pre-fame Gerard Butler and probably seemed like it would be a big hit.

I'm going to add IMAGINE DRAGONS to the list, but with qualifiers.
They've had enough hits to qualify to do a Bond song and are not one-hit wonders. Their lead vocalist has a distinct voice and I think he's got range and power. Not sure I'd let them write the song. But a collaboration with the person doing the score would probably work, or an established song writer.
In case you haven't heard of them, you probably have and just don't know it. Big hits include Radioactive, Believer, Thunder, and I Bet My Life.
Again, I would consider bringing them on, but definitely having them work with others to get a Bond sound; otherwise their rock sensibilities might drown out what would otherwise be a memorable tune, and you're left with something too quirky to be a classic (like Madonna and Die Another Day).

I believe she had no interest in doing another blockbuster so soon. I don't think she looked particularly Hispanic/Mediterranean anyway, and glad Zeta-Jones was cast.

Is she still relevant these days? If they didn't get her during the early-mid noughties, I don't think they'll back track now.
But I get the theory. It's what they did for SPECTRE and Writing's on the Wall.

Serebro came to my attention a couple of years back. An inspired choice, Ambler.
The beauty of having them do the track is that no money will need to be forked out for an elaborate, animated title sequence; simply have the singers pillow fight in frilly lingerie. Truly Fleming-esque.

I want blatant Bond pastiche - big, brassy with a ballsy voice. Paloma Faith or Lana Del Rey for me.
Lana Del Ray sounds promising. Her voice is a perfect match to do that kind of pastiche. I am still impressed how well it worked with Adele. She's the first one for decades who really comes close to the first Bond songs.
Lana Del Ray has the right kind of powerful, slow ballads that might be needed ("Video Games", "Summertime Sadness"). And, her stuff is very creepy (watch the end of the video; then you'll know what I mean). So it would be more than a blatant pastiche. It's close enough to the old traditional songs and still gives it a new, creepy and disturbing air which had not been there before. That slur in "Video Games" which adds more tragic to the self-destructive lyrics is unique. Its almost like she has lost interest in herself. I mean, look at the lyrics, which are a kitschy love-song and the way she performs them. How uninterested and absent. Hopeless.
But how will they ever live up to the melancholic drama of "Skyfall"? It is Bond's requiem and by no means would I ever want to be the artist who has to live up to that. That's most likely why they chose a male successor...Every female voice who has to follow that will look like a cheap Adele copy. That's why they went for something entirely different, IMO.
But, if we are still hopeful that 25 will be YOLT, that creepy stuff of Lana Del Ray would be perfect. I mean, her best known hit is about video games. The title already sums up the message of the song, the tragic of a relationship that is one-sided. And I really love the drum roll in the second half.
BUT, and this is a big BUT: Isn't she American? I have just re-watched two videos and both start and end with the American flag.

I can't edit again. So if you want more creepy stuff. Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness" is about suicide:
