Couple of things that stand out: I agree that I think Paris has the best undergarment shots. I also think The World Is Not Enough challenges Thunderball for best gallery of Bond girls. And it's good to see some more support for the Vanish. While it's not my favourite aspect of the Bond films, in DAD, at least it is, as you said, in the realm of possibility. But, I still think that the car chases from TND, FYEO, QOS and DN are better.
I pretty much have to rank them 10 out of 10 because I watch them so darn much. There's no other films that I watch as much, other than Planet of the Apes. Bond and Apes always rate 10 out 10. Just the way it is. |

Bond and Apes don't mix. As proven by Daniel Craig the albino Donkey Kong and Zambora the Gorilla Girl. |

Craig as albino Donkey Kong performed better monkey stunts than the apes from the original apes films. Actually Craig/Bond/ape was more ape-dexterous than some real apes I'm sure. |

| OCTOPUSSY...(9 out of 10)
I think it's the best of Roger's films...classy, sophisticated, moody, mysterious...probably Moore's best performance as Bond outside of TSWLM.
The film is just complicated enough to keep you interested, but no so difficult that you can't follow along. Great PTS, great theme song, great titles, great performances by all involved.
Only things I would change about the movie are: Tarzan yell, gorilla suit, and Bond dressing up as a clown. The penultimate Bond film of the 80's. |

| Watched YOLT last night. One of my better viewings of that film. It could move up a couple of spots in my next ranking.
I love Tanaka's chuckles when Bond makes his undignified entrance into the Tiger's lair. |

| To me YOLT's score is one that works very well in the context of the film (which, of course, is its primary purpose), but it's just not one of my favorite Barrys to listen to on its own. And I think I criticized its repetitiveness, not its bombast. Avarice once criticized GF's score for being bombastic, though. |

I was reading through the posts and was concerned that you would have called it bombastic. I am comforted that this isn't the case because I have the exact same gripe. The whole score bleeds together for most the film. It's like Barry got lost in the Far East feeling and road that one show pony all the way home for the first half of the film. I don't know what was going on in the Fight At Kobe Dock-Helga track. I must say though, the scores during the volcano scenes are great. I watched Octopussy awhile ago. I know why I fear clowns all over again. |

| Showed it to some friends who either hadn't seen it or hadn't seen it since they were kids. It was a lot of fun and to use a description one of my friends came up with "Cold War Sexy". It's become fashionable to bash the North by Northwest homage and the boat chase but I find those scenes quite enjoyable much as I enjoy the similarly criticized Venice house sinking finale in CR. |

| Great FRWL poster. It's posters like this that helped make the Bond movies great. Here Bond just looks like Bond. Confident and deadly and not like he's got any issues............ and with a backdrop of girls, guns and explosions or in this case, girls, girls, girls and a little glimpse of action.
It's time to bring the old magic back to the poster art |

| Casino Royale last night. The only Bond film that matches CR's profundity and scope is OHMSS. I also think this film captures Fleming's Bond as well as any other made so far. As Fleming himself says, "Like all harsh, cold men, Bond was easily tipped into sentimentality." In light of that fact, the scene with Vesper in the shower makes perfect sense, despite what its detractors might say. |

| A View to a Kill - Haven't seen it in a while, so it didn't bore me as much as previously. Despite fully transforming into a grandpa Bond, Moore still carries the film well. Walken's acting can get so offbeat, that at times I can't take him seriously as a villain - but that's what sets Zorin apart from the more conventional baddies. Despite a tired feel throughout, I also consider AVTAK Moore's most elegant and mature Bond film thanks to Maibaum & Wilson's script and Barry's score. I have no idea what inspired John Barry, but what a beautiful score it is!
1. FRWL 2. CR 3. TB 4. Dr. No 5. FYEO 6. QOS 7. LALD 8. AVTAK |

| Watched LTK this last Sunday and found it lifting a litlte in my list of Bonds, still has a curious cheapness to the production (perhaps all those 80's stock tv actors that seem to fill the cast) and the tanker stunts just don't quite work for me but a terrific central perfomance from Dalton, it's also perhaps the most genuinely original Bond plot since OHMSS. |

| Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace Olga and Solange both looked real good. Bond could play poker every day for the rest of his life and never draw again to an inside straight flush. Le Chiffre and his 4 Aces never had a chance. Will we ever know what Fields was wearing under that trench coat? And why didn't she properly identify herself as Strawberry Fields? If Pussy can say, "My name is Pussy Galore" and keep a straight face, then surely Fields could have blurted out her name too. Forster should have paid closer attention to GF. If he had, who knows, Bond might have given Fields a friendly little bum slap as they searched for stationary. But maybe he did behind closed doors. Still not sure how Dench avoided getting gunned down in Sienna. Actually I still have no idea what went down in that scene. All I know for certain is that a chair got knocked over and Bond chased Mitchell out the door. The rest is a blur, just like the opening car chase, although the chase has a nice edgy vibe, even if I can't follow it without activating the blu-ray super slow-mo feature. I do think the Alpha going over the cliff, was a Forster homage to DN. Mathis drinks cheap wine. That was funny. I can certainly relate, although sometimes I buy based on the label design too. I like wines with animals on the label. Got a nice turtle wine a while back. Good to see the Canadian intelligence services on the job, even if our lead agent was about to be duped into giving away state secrets. I'm actually impressed that Forster thought our state secrets were worthy of an officially sanctioned Quantum op. Slimeball Greene even briefly referenced the operation at the big Quantum opera pow-wow. Poor Mathis, stuffed in the trunk of a car and then dumped in a dumpster. QoS should have ended in the Bolivian desert sink-hole though. There is no way Bond and Camille didn't go splat after pulling their ripcord about 10 feet above the sink hole's hard rock floor unless they actually landed in a big sand deposit cushioned by a water bed below. There was no shortage of sand in that desert. Maybe they scrambled out of the sand hole and reconvened by the rocks. Bond and Camille's romantic walk through the desert was clearly another Forster homage to classic Bond - this time a nod to Rog and Anya's well-dressed desert stroll. 10/10 for both films. They are Bond movies after all.
Never Say Never Again Sean is awesome. Sean looks great. So do all his new Bond girls. Valerie Leon promoted from Hotel Receptionist to woman-on-boat and this time Bond doesn't ignore her. Prunella Gee as Fearing rivals Molly Peters. Excellent casting. Carerra and Bond's ocean-side bar meeting was very Bondian. "But my martini's still dry" No-one delivers the one-liners like Sean.
I did have a few anxious moments wondering what became of the horse that jumped off the cliff with Bond and Domino, until we saw it swimming back to shore. This movie could have used more dramatic music but just seeing Sean again, back in the tux and being Bond, makes this film double-plus-awesome.
10/10 stars. Thus concludes the 2011 complete 23 film Bondathon. |

10/10 stars. Thus concludes the 2011 complete 23 film Bondathon. Not too surprising although the 1965 version(**** out of ****) of the exact same story casts a gigantic shadow over its 1983 remake(**1/2 out of ****) IMHO. At the very least, I think McClory should've changed the names of Klaus Maria Brandauer's and Kim Basinger's characters since Adolfo Celi and Clauding Auger will always be Largo and Domino for me. Nonetheless, NSNA is a masterpiece next to QOS. - Perilagu Khan wrote:

I would naturally ask that the offending bottle be removed from the shelves. I'm sure a foul stench would immediately escape the bottle, after the cork was popped. I do recommend Canada's Artisan Wine's Painted Turtle selections. Very catchly labeling and a good but not great price at $11.95 a bottle . $9.95 would be better, but still Mathis would approve. It looks great on the table. It's an empty bottle you might want to save for a bit before taking it back to the store for the 20 cent deposit. Ontario's, Cooper's Creek wines has a nice family of cat-themed selections, appealing to the conoisseur of both cheap and animal themed vintages. The Fat Cat is a New Zealand Chardonnay. Looking forward to sampling that in the near future while I can recommend the Cat's Pee on a Gooseberry Bush. I jumped on that one when I first saw it. Looking forward to trying the Mother Clucker's Chardonnay rooster wine as well. All three are priced $13.00 - $15.00. A tad pricey, (but likely still Mathis approved) but the labeling is top notch! |

| I have had urges to watch Diamonds Are Forever too, ever since I watched it for the umpteenth time at the start of the year. YOLT, DN, CR and as of today, LALD too, have been ones I really want to watch. From that list, only LALD and CR are the two I haven't seen this year. Might pop one in tonight...Better than doing homework :) |

| Watched Moonraker this last Saturday as it had featured in a few thread recently....watched in the right spirit theres a lot to enjoy I'd like to attack it with some scissors in a number of instances but individually there is some great Bond moments, really well done effects, incredible locations and a terrifically atmospheric score. (kinda made me want to watch Black Hole as well...though I doubt I would find it surprising me in quite as pleasant a manner!)
