Considering we're having to start afresh, in a cross between Fahrenheit 451 and Noah's Ark, here's one of the old classics.
You all know the rules, and if you don't, you can figure it out.
Quote :
Today's track is 007 and Counting from DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (1971), composed by John Barry (1933=2011).
Voting will close when it closes.

Class. Though when the track gets to 2.45 and you're looking at LS's avatar, it's even better.

Sounds great, but verges on excessive repetition.

Superb, and I agree that jiggling booty compliments it well.

Fine stuff, but not the absolute best of Barry.

8/10. (Not keen on awarding numerical vales for music, but I guess that's how this works.)
Magnificent work - the opening bars make my hairs stand on end. Love the use of the sustain pedal. All those harmonics floating around...

Almost too reminiscent of 'Space March' for me, but it's a fantastic and suspenseful piece by the master.

Hey, Sharky, you should post that Godawful Prague Philharmonic version for contrast. :x

Where's those low sustained piano chords, the major 7ths in the second half of the chord progression, the thudding flatwound bass and harp, wire brush martial rhythm on the snare drum, glockenspiel playing semiquavers (not flutes playing quavers), and 4 alto flutes? It also doesn't tight, and precise enough. The Prague recording studio has poor acoustics (ill-defined reverb), the digital recording process lacks the magic of the 8 track analogue recording, and the orchestra and conductor sound drunk or half asleep.
Nic Raine sucks the life of Barry's Bond work, and turns it into wallpaper music.
In a better note, I like Rich Douglas's remix of the cue. At least it does the original some justice.

That was horrible. Like sex with a condom.
Sir John. Accept no imitations.
EDIT: Sharky, the Rich Douglas is not bad, as you say. Wouldn't mind fahn fahn fahning auf der autobahn with that on the iPod.

I bought "The James Bond Collection" about 5 years ago. I think I spent $30 on it at the time.
There are only a handful of faithful tracks on it and I don't mind some of the main theme instrumentals. That version of "007 and Counting" sounds like a completely different track. I can't even be bothered to rip it to my PC. I'd rather use the space for porn or something.
As for the original, I give it a 9.5/10. A really gorgeous piece of Bond music.

Decent Barry. There are other tracks from DAF I enjoy a lot more.

10/10. Terrific space music from Barry recalling Capsule in Space in YOLT and foreshadowing Flight Into Space in MR.

Taking Slumber Inc. out of the equation, I'd argue that this would be my favourite track on the soundtrack... A kind of funkier version of Capsule In Space...

Yes. FieldsMan's the nitwit who was convinced this was the same cue as Capsule in Space.
