The actress is thrilled by her part in the film, but admits she would have signed up regardless of the character.

She told Empire magazine: "I love the Bond movies, so I probably would have done it whatever, but Eve is actually a great role. She's attractive and intelligent and multi-dimensional, she's got a lot going on."

To date I would say its been reinvented in the guise of the generic action hero, a dubious achievement imo but tbh I think Daniel is just following orders, hopefully Mendes will call the shots this time around.

Bond didn't need to be totally reinvented; it was the world around him (and behind the scenes) that did.


Mendes wanting things lighter ... that's a surprising revelation, I didn't think he, as the Life of Brian folk might say, always look[ed] on the bright side of life.

Has their ever been a reigning Bond Girl who stated that a previous Bond actor was "the best", and not the current Bond she's working with? This theme is as tried and true as a writer using the phrase "shaken and stirred" in an article about 007! All Bond Girls say the current Bond is the best; they know where their bread is buttered, and I"m assuming not all the checks have been issued when these statements get made. These ladies aren't stupid.

Gemma Arterton decided to go off on another tangent it seems.

His co-star in QOS, Gemma Arterton, said in the Mail on Sunday "Daniel is 5ft 10in but when they put me in heels, I was taller than him and it didn't look good on screen...Daniel had to wear shoes with a lift in them and stacked heels for a few scenes, but he took it very well. He thought it was funny"

I'm sure Craig would have buttered her bread with a fresh squirt of splooge after that :suspect:

If this is true, the first weekend's box-office should exceed QoS, which I believe was 68.2m (a record, not adjusted for inflation). But I'm not ready to put my head on a block to say it's a definite...QoS left a sour taste in many mouths. The same can be said for MI3, but Ghost Protocol rescued that franchise...it passed 200m in US Box-Office today. What factors did you consider to arrive at your conclusion? I'm not ready to agree with it just yet until a final trailer is released and gauging feedback on the marketing, early tracking figures etc....

If I was "banking on" one I wouldn't have said "best....or worst". I have no idea what this movie is going to be like. The secrecy surrounding this film is staggering. I"m amazed at how much that hasn't come been leaked.

Please. Your comments about how Babs is derailing the franchise make it pretty clear that - subconsicuously, at least - you want SKYFALL to fail because then it will be proof that you were right all along.

I think he's speaking from a geneal POV. OHMSS is generally accepted as one of the best Bond films in the franchise, amd DAD is usally deemed to be the worst (although I admit QoS is starting to gather up a rather negative reputation these days).

I don't get the hatred for QoS, as I find it to be the only legit Bond movie since LTK, despite the fiasco of having Craig playing Bond (at least he seems to have jumped from brat to world-weary, because the brat aspect pissed all over CR.)

I think the QOS hatred is more a BaB anomaly than anything else. I'm a dissenter on this board in that I rate it in the middle of the pack rather than at the bottom of the slag heap.

With the track record of this franchise, especially in recent years, is it any surprise that Bond fans may be pessimistic about the upcoming release?

No one wants this to fail. Personally, I'd like another extraordinary Bond film, and hope Mendes can deliver.
