Despite starring alongside some of Tinseltown's biggest names, Cate Blanchett admits she would love to a Bond villain - reports the Daily Mail.

She opened up on her plans for her career in the April issue of the UK edition of Harper's Bazaar.

When asked if she was offered a role as a Bond villain, she replied: "Oh God! Yes! I’d be there in a heartbeat."

"I love Lotta Lenya [Ross Klebb in 1963’s From Russia with Love]. She had a club foot and a limp. I’m not a purist in that way."

Yes please! Cate is one of my favourite actresses. Now, if Barbara still wants an Oscar for Bond and is casting Oscar winners, please feel free to cast Blanchett! I won't object to that Ms Broccoli.

No, just no. Her performance in KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL was painful enough.

Haven't seen that, but in Benjamin Button, Charlotte Gray (one of the only good things in that film), The Talented Mr Ripley, Elizabeth and Babel she was outstanding. She was also quite good in Hanna, but her character wasn't developed well enough in the script.

I thought she was also pretty poor in Hanna also (though agree with Fields in that it might not be her fault) but it really wouldn't bode well for a Bond appearence. All that said bland and forgettable seems to be the producer's template for recent Bond villainy so maybe it makes her ideal?

They all want to be villains.

I liked her. I thought she was probably the best thing in an otherwise dreadful movie. But I agree she probably needs to stay far away from the Bond series; not because she can't act, but because it might give Barbara even more ideas about trying to get an Oscar and using Bond to do it.

Bond films should receive Oscars for original theme song, film score, individual performances by an actor or actress, cinematography...but never, ever, ever in a million, billion years should a Bond film be nominated, much less win an Oscar, for Best Movie (clearly something Babs is aiming for). Bond should be easily digestible pulp and left alone. Bond should be about hollowed-out volcanoes and women with big knockers and suggestive names...villains with deformities or peculiar fetishes....henchmen with special means of killing. The Bond films should not be a vehicle for Barbara to make political statements or attempt to secure Best Motion Picture awards.

She is a very talented actress so EON can call itself lucky for future movies.

She is indeed not some Hollywood barbie, but looks more like a real woman. I can understand that it could be scary. ;)

Yes, she isn't the most attractivee (though she can be dolled up to look quite beautiful), but maybe the Bond team can emphasise all of the unattractive features and make her a modern day Klebb/Bunt. She said villainess, not Bond girl, so she isn't limited to an Elektra, Miss Taro or Xenia.

I thought she was HOT in Elizabeth

She played a more than passable baddie in Hanna.
