| I never saw DARK CITY, which would be the best version to watch first? |

Director's Cut. You don't even need to see the theatrical unless you're really interested. It's basically the version where the studio came in and ****ed things up. |

| Actually, either version. The Theatrical I saw first and still fell in love with the film anyway. It has an unnecessary narration opening but otherwise the DC edits are vast and very subtle. There's actually quite a lot of editing involved in the DC but all akin to a Director getting to make his preferred edit without changing any meaning. Color timing is different however.
Jaws and The Bridge on the River Kwai. On Laserdisc. Yep. They were dirt cheap and I couldn't resist. |

| BR of BULLITT for $7.88 (it had that Art of Editing doc on it, which I wanted as much as the movie!)
and the BR of TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY on ebay for under $10 (well, under 13 w/ shipping) ... more than I've spent on any movie in quite awhile, but shoot, I've already rented it twice after seeing it in the theater. |

| The Complete Metropolis Blu-ray. Dressed to Kill Blu-ray.
I thought the DRESSED TO KILL BD only had one version of the film and no extras, but I saw that it had everything from the DVD and ordered it. Pity the CARRIE BD didn't carry over the extras. |

| DRIVE and BRAM STOKER'S SPATULA, BRs $5 a pop, plus DVD of GHOST WORLD for a buck.
Been meaning to rewatch GHOST WORLD for nearly a decade, and even if it doesn't measure up, no big loss.

| Target had it for 7.50. I love these multi-film sets when they're on sale. |

| THE GAME (1997) Michael Douglas
On Criterion's special edition Blu-Ray. I've been waiting for this film to come onto Blu-Ray for, like, 15 years. |

| Heh, I got a Poe DVD too. In addition to my new ROSEMARY'S BABY Blu-ray I spotted this for 5 bucks... Thanks to Best Buy for combining their Blu-rays and DVD's or I'd never have spotted it. I'd watched the film on Quicktime files that I made from a friend's DVDs (so I have the commentaries and everything). This one has PIT in anamorphic too. Pity it doesn't have MASQUE instead of TALES. You may have the better deal in the long run, harmsway. MASQUE is an arm and a leg in every other release. |

Yeah, I noticed. I was also trying to get a DVD copy of THE DEVIL RIDES OUT, and it looked like even a used copy would cost me an arm and a leg. |

Criterion Blu-ray editions of De Palma's BLOW OUT and Kurosawa's SEVEN SAMURAI.

| SUNSET BOULEVARD on Blu-ray, but I had to order it from Amazon because of course Best Buy didn't carry it. |
