Why does Tiffany follow Blofeld-in-Drag from the casino

TIFFANY (Taps Boothroyd on the shoulder):

"Say, Mr. Q, if this Blofeld you're looking for always travels with a white cat, maybe that hideous old broad over there is going to meet up with him? It might be worth sparing an agent to follow her - er, it - or I could just check it out myself?"

Thinking: Nah, never mind. 1970s audiences are pretty smart - they'll be able to figure it out for themselves...eventually.

Here's my theory to this scene:

Blofeld was wearing one of Tiffany's costumes and wigs: Blofeld wears a blond wig in the scene, and Tiffany's blond wig is alluded to in the scene in her Amsterdam apartment with Bond. Secondly, Kidd and Wint visited the rented house for Tiffany in Vegas to kill her (but instead get Plenty). When Tiffany arrives there, she says "What's my wig doing in the pool?", which suggests she brought at least one wig with her on her trip to the States, so it's plausible she brought her collection of wigs as well. Having visited the Vegas house, Kidd and Wint would have rummaged the place and collected the wig and outfit as bait for Tiffany. It also makes sense that K and W, being androgynous characters themselves would be into the wigs.

It's a stretch, but it's the only explanation I could find, other than the idea that the film is breaking the 4th wall: the screeching cat is prominently featured at the end of the PTS, so the film is then saying "hey look! There's that white cat again!", but in this instance Tiffany is actually in the role of the audience.

Fatherhood has been keeping this old man busy. But high summer has had me pondering such important quandaries as the Tiffany-pussy paradox! It's good to see you guys keeping this place alive and well.

Eureka!!! This could very well be the explanation! Yes, Bond and Leiter could very well have filled her in, on who and what Blofeld was. So she spots the cat, and even the badly disguised "woman" carrying it, and  goes on the trail of the bad guy.

It would have to have been Leiter - or Q himself - who filled her in, since Tiffany didn't see James again from the time he 'popped upstairs for a moment' to confront WW until he came aboard the oil rig.

Oh, Bond DEFINITELY fills her in   .
