A thread for this criminally neglected Polish composer, who's scored around 140 films, with 80% of them currently unreleased. From what's available, I recommend his splendid music for DRACULA, THE NINTH GATE, THE PIANIST, FROM A FAR COUNTRY, PAN TADZEUS, KÖNIG DER LETZTEN TAGE, BILANS KWARTALNY, ZAZDROSC I MEDYCYNA, KRONIKA WYPADKÓW MIŁOSNYCH, among others.

The Ninth Gate is underrated on so many levels.

If I ever made a Jesus film, I would want this to be the key element of the soundtrack (sorry for the not so great version, but it's all I could find on YouTube; I'm partial to this recording):

I love those 60s Polish avant-garde dissonances. Film scores about The Passion rarely convey its pain and bewilderment (i.e. John Debney's PASSION OF THE CHRIST), too often falling into romantic or new age clichés.

Saw THE NINTH GATE again today, and discovered that was Kilar. Loved his work on Dracula, and this was another good one. Then discovered this thread.
