Brown, you dirty bastard. I was going to go to sleep. Gacy, Belzer. I have to try to watch this.
Gacy and Michele Bachman have two things in common beyond being raging psychopaths; they both have roots in Waterloo, Iowa, and they both have a couple dozen kids under their roof.

Bachmann confused The Duke with John Wayne Gacy.
She's never getting my vote.
By the way, I love how that clip broke from a creepy John Wayne Gacy intro to a pulpy theme song.
Could have doubled as the theme to a Hustler presentation on HBO.

Wasn't necessarily a huge fan of the show, but always thought its intro was very nice. Takes me back to the 70s, even now, and that's a good thing.

Loved this back in the 70s. Has a bit of a DN vibe in retrospect.

That was a show I'd always meant to watch but never did. But my childhood best friend was a big fan. So even hearing that music now hits me in the nostalgia a bit.

And from 1:10 to 1:20, have to say this computer game opening reminds me of most Bond film intros: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjiLTKmudZc

Somerset, X-Files is certainly classic. It really set the mood. Just perfect.

Never seen that show but that's great!

Agreed. I was always so happy they never mucked around with it. Same intro (basically, of course they added the new actors at the end) over the nine seasons even when it was outdated in graphic terms by the early 00s.

Some animated show intros, perhaps?
Outro in this as well -
Bittersweet watching the first two, because nostalgia for my long-ago childhood kicks in and makes me a little tearful. And then there's watching the Simpsons one and remembering when it used to mean you were gonna laugh like a loon for the next 20 minutes or so.

Yes, Simpsons has lasted twice as long as it should. Never cared for this, but the intro is fun, with the catchy music and all the silliness.

That series--and the original movie--had the Benign Bizarre in spades.

One of my favourite classic TV intro themes (and TV series) has to be Tales of the Unexpected which aired from 1979 until 1988. The eerie fairground-style theme was composed by the legendary Ron Grainer:
