Ang Lee's a good director. It might not be so bad.
Not sure about the CGI animals though.

Another art house movie. Intresting for the public channel for Friday or Saturday.

Have any of you read the book?
If not, consider yourself lucky.

I'm burned by Lee after the general vomitosity of Taking Woodstock.
Dunno what to expect from this. Claudio Miranda can make purdy images. That might make it worthwhile.

When I saw Prometheus, this was in front of it.
Not the trailer, but a long clip of him in the boat with the tiger and the fishes coming out of the ocean.
It just seemed to go on forever and forever and we didn't know what it was.
There was no MPAA Green Band Trailer card in front it.
We thought we were in the wrong movie theater until the clip ended and it indicated that it was the trailer for an upcoming movie.
Very annoying.
We didn't pay $16 to go to IMAX to see this!!

Just finished the book. Anyone here looking forward to the film?
ETA: Sorry, Control. Didn't know there was already a thread on this topic.

I've not read the book, so I don't know whether or not to look forward to this film or not. The trailer didn't do a lot for me, but it is an Ang Lee film.

If you read it, make sure you do so spoiler-free. Even the film trailer gives too much away (although trailers tend to do that, in my experience).
I gather that M. Night Shyamalan was going to direct LIFE OF PI at one point, which makes sense given that the novel is very Shyamalanian in some ways (but don't let that put you off it). I much prefer Lee as a filmmaker, though.

Cuaron was going to do it for awhile, too, according to IMDB anyway.
I talked to the cinematographer on PI today, and it sounds like a big-budget art house movie. I'm definitely intrigued. There are a lot of live-action animals, but obviously dangerous interaction situations make for a certain amount of CG animals as well.
From the way they shot a lot of stuff in a big new tank, I can imagine the 'making of' images being as impressive as the movie, in terms of the rigging and the silks and the spidercam all in a big arc over the water set.

Heard good things about this one and my daughter loves the big kitty. Apparently it's a movie with Narnia, Titanic, Free Willy, and Cast Away combined. Love the way Coldplay kicks in...

Saw it. Don't ask how I was slightly besotted when I saw it but I was. My inebriated mind thoroughly enjoyed it.

In its defense, it's better than HUGO. This is at its worst visually stimulating.
