Go to 0:57 to see the gunbarrel being filmed.

I was always wondering if they were either gonna keep the MK12 gunbarrel or have Kleinman redo it his way. I'm glad its the latter and hope it returns to the classic look.

It basically a walking, non-toilet version of the CR gunbarrel with a tie.

Looks like. I didn't like how in QOS he held the gun too high, obscuring his mouth. Also nice that he's not power walking this time.

By powerwalking you mean the cro-magnon shuffle? He actually looks like he was sped up, the blur is all wrong, especially when he walks off after shooting.

If you look at it obliquely, it has that 'wrong' feeling I associate with movement of some CG humans, therefore I ASSUME it was tampered with in a speed-ramped kind of way.
I guess that makes it the uncommon valley of all gunbarrels, when we were all hoping for the mother of all gunbarrels (which now I guess would have Judi Dench in it.)

Just realized that it'll be the first digitally shot gunbarrel. Could they have used pinhole lens for this?

Bond's picking up M with his Aston Martin. Cue champagne a la Goldeneye homage. ;)
Seriously though, this looks good. I'm really hoping for the Bond theme to pop up. When the video played it behind the action, it worked brilliantly. It really is up to the music now - I'm sold on the cast, action and photography. It's just the music. The theme is pretty good, the score needs to be better that that.

Also nice to hear Sam Mendes being a fan of Live and Let Die. I know if I were directing I would have to lie about becoming a fan after seeing my first Bond film, because I didn't even like Tomorrow Never Dies as a kid.

I feel like a total jackass. I talked to Deakins and to the VFX supe (a guy who likes miniatures and in-camera effects) and didn't think to ask either of them about the gunbarrel.

I'm feeling optimistic. I always get nervous when I see a director say something about "adressing the world we live in" whilst wearing a scarf, but alas.

Normally, that would set off the wailing klaxons. But I think the difference between Sam Mendes and Marc Foster is that Mendes is treating this as a Bond film first. Foster wanted to make a socio-political statement more than anything else, and in retrospect, I'm under the distinct impression that a) the film was top-heavy with action as if Foster wanted to get it all out of the way first, and b) he wasn't really present for shooting most of it.

I'd like a Bond director with some actual class and a sense of humour. Not just a sense of humour in general, but also a sense of humour about Bond. A modern Terrence Young with a dash of Guy Hamilton.

I love that exchange between Bond and M over the Aston:
"This looks inconspicuous." / "Get in."
Once again, Craig takes a fairly ordinary line and imbues a whole lot into it. I get the feeling Bond running out of patience with M and feels that cleaning up after her mistakes is a poor use of his time - she should have seen this coming and done something about it when she had the chance, but she didn't (or couldn't or wouldn't) and now he's the one who has who has to get her out of the whole sordid affair. That certainly gels with what we know about Bond finding his loyalty to her being tested over secrets from her past, and also with other shots from the video in which M is apparently dawdling behind him.
Spoiler:
I'm guessing she has just been stripped of her position and dismissed in disgrace and has absolutely no idea what to do next while Silva's assassins close in on both of them.

Nice little featurette.
They've successful generated my interest in this film. I'm booking 2 tickets this weekend; not sure if I should go with the IMAX experience or not.

When I saw the SKYFALL trailer in IMAX, it looked stunning. I'd say if you have the option, go IMAX.
