| Interesting. Won't let myself get too curious about that as it probably won't make it to Australian shores. |

| I see Wes Anderson has a new movie in the works and was perusing the cast list...
The French Dispatch (2020)- Lea Seydoux, Christoph Waltz, Jeffrey Wright, Benicio del Toro, Mathieu Amalric

| Sounds great. IMDBpro says it's set after WWII. Keen to see more of Amalric's work. Like Waltz, perfect casting for a Bond villain, just wasted in his movie. As I've said elsewhere I think I like Greene more than the character warrants because of the actor playing him. Looking at the cast list, you could add Willem Dafoe to the Bond connection list, seeing he played Zorin's nephew opposite Brosnan's Bond in EoN. But also an impressive array of actors outside of the Bond world:
Adrien Brody Kate Winslet Saoirse Ronan Timothee Chalamet Tilda Swinton Bill Murray Frances McDormand Owen Wilson Rupert Friend Henry Winkler Jason Schwartzman

| Anderson nowadays attracts a decent cast. I find myself pining for the old days, i.e Rushmore/Tenenbaums, when the cast had some names but generally could get by. Not to detract from latter films (Budapest is a delight. Fiennes' explosion of "Fuckers!" somehow funnier to me than perhaps it should be).
Indeed, on that note, if only we had Gene Hackman in a Bond film. A world weary Leiter in the 70s, a Blofeld in the late 60s or brief cameo as a president in the 90s. |

| One does wonder how much time each actor will have to shine in the limited running time of a feature film... Need to give Budapest Hotel a rewatch. Loved it in cinemas. Great suggestion! A Gene Hackman/Roger Moore pairing in the 70s is ace. |

| Law, that twigs me, Budapest is a Bond frenzy...
Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)- Ralph Fiennes, Mathieu Amalric, Lea Seydoux,
well...three.
Smashing film, Fields. Dafoe is great in it. But yes, Hackman/Moore would be great even in that godawful Warhead idea.

| I literally watch anything Hackman was ever in. I think he is just about the most underrated actor in this country period and in many ways his retirement guts me in many of the same ways that Connery's did.
Good lord, he could have done marvelous things in the series whether good, evil, serious, dour or with the comic effect of his Luthor for example. Hell, he could have made an amazing Felix in a lot of ways.
If ever given the chance I think he and Roger would have sparked off of each other in an interesting way. |

| As far as Hackman's retirement go, like Connery, I wish it had ended on a semi-decent film and not Welcome to Mooseport. |

| I saw that in the theater actually and wondered what the heck I was doing seeing it and why was Hackman in it. |

| I've never seen it and I wonder why he was in it. Money I suppose. I'd pay money for him to be in the next Anderson film for five minutes. |

| I'll have to check these out, especially the J. Pryce and C. Walken collaborations. Two of my favourite Bond villains in one. If only Lotte Lenya could have joined them. |

| I understand A Business Affair to be quite bad, so the reviews state. Pryce is usually fair for the money. Him and Walken would be an interesting contrast. |

| Pink Panther 2 (2009)- John Cleese, Geoffrey Palmer
amendment below,
Wild Geese (1978)- Roger Moore, Valerie Leon, Glyn Baker, Martin Grace, Bob Simmons
bit of a reach. Apparently Glyn Baker (the famous Stanley's son), was 002 in Living Daylights and the stuntmen legends are credited/uncredited as 'characters'.

| I wasn't 100% sure which one of them 002 was, but I see from a quick Google that he's the quite posh-sounding one who gets paintballed immediately after landing on the Rock. |

| I once heard tell of a theory that Baker was meant to be reminiscent of Moore and the agent who gets his climbing rope cut reminiscent of Lazenby, in a little 'that was then, but this is now' sort of thing by the film-makers. |

| the BBC article on the No Time to Die's release mentioned a film that had been made in 1958. So I gave it a quick look over.
No Time to Die, a.k.a Tank Force (1958)- Luciana Paluzzi, Bob Simmons
Cubby Broccoli co-produced, Terence Young directed and co-wrote with Richard Maibaum.

| Cubby would have hated a Bond film title being the same as another film he produced. |
