| So watching Skyfall for the second time last week and something only occurred to me when watching it then. M is in the middle of a very Public Inquiry, with tv cameras filming her and probably being broadcast live to the BBC and CNN (I assume) and she talks about the Double O Section and her job very openly. Am I to take it that her section is public knowledge in the James Bond universe. I just want this clarified or have I missed something. Is it possible that the inquiry was only being filmed for 'government eyes only', or is this meant to be a public display because the whole set up seemed to be somewhat making reference to the, quite frankly, large amount of enquiries that have been taking place in the UK recently due to mistakes made by both this government and the last one (Leveson being the most (in)famous one in recent years). |

I'm guessing this, due to the lack of Beeb cameras. |

| Of course, they even made several novels and movies about. :D
EDIT: Seriously though, after making the post I just realized that in YOLT's novel (and it did bother me) M stated in Bond's obituary that someone wrote novels about Bond. |

I'm guessing this, due to the lack of Beeb cameras. Would've been the biggest thing to hit BBC Parliament since Anne Widdecombe's last appearance. |

| Yeah I always got the impression from Fleming that the Double Os were top secret but then again in Flemings time no one even admit MI6 existed so... |

I'm guessing this, due to the lack of Beeb cameras. Like Sir Dalton I winced when I heard this, but I thought, well it must be an in-camera need-to-know hearing but there sure were a hell of a lot of people in the room, maybe even some low-level guards but I can't remember. I think it was bad writing. The writer failed to take into account that the 00 section's existence is "eyes-only" knowledge. |

I'm guessing this, due to the lack of Beeb cameras. And I doubt the government would set up a highly-public inquiry and then throw open the doors to the public. In the wake of the attack on MI6 and the deaths of agents worldwide, parliament would naturally be asking serious questions about sensitive things. The public would probably be aware of the inquiry, and there would probably be some selected press coverage if it had been resolved, but the finer, more-sensitive points would no doubt be kept secret. |
