R.I.P. Eunice Gayson.
Best pair of eyebrows in the series save for the late Sir Roger's.

Thanks, Commande, that's a fine piece I hadn't seen. Steyn has been absent from UK circles for almost a decade now - 'America Alone' didn't go down well with England's masters in Germania.

Perhaps he's been banned. I understand this has happened to various foreign conservatives.

Burt Reynolds has passed away, aged 82. Posting here since he turned down Bond:
He was in the middle of shooting Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

A shame. I was looking forward to seeing him in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and heard from I think it was his Niece that he was only weeks away from shooting his scenes. A screen legend with a large and entertaining filmography plus a whole lot of cool and charm.
R.I.P., Burt. You will be missed.

Solid supporting character in TND. The razor card trick would have added a nice touch of benign bizarre to the film, but his presence was enough.
PK's favourite supporting character, IIRC?

That's sad. Even though I really only know him from TND.

Nicolas Roeg has left us. A truly great cinematographer and visionary director far beyond his time.

Albert Finney has passed aged 82, after a short illness. His Bond role might have not been what he was remembered for but his impact was memorable and one of the highlights of the Craig era.
Personally, a favourite role of his role will be Churchill in The Gathering Storm. Till Oldman, I had not seen a performance so complete.

Indeed one of the highlights of the Craig era. Not great news to wake up to. RIP Albert.

Kincade was marvellous ... the only person who'll ever get away with calling Bond 'a jumped-up little shit', I suspect.

His was a face that I adored appearing at any time. A real professional whose like does not appear often. As a sign of his truly capable range I don't think anyone will ever match his definitive Poirot (though I like Ustinov very much and even Suchet.) Kincaid was a film in himself. Well done Albert. RIP

That orange tag appears alongside the dreaded 'obituaries' thread. This time to denote Scott Walker, singer of The World Is Not Enough's original end credits song by David Arnold, has passed away, aged 76.
David Arnold intended Only Myself to Blame to be James Bond, maybe in his 70s, reflecting on his younger years.

'Apart from cast members playing recurring characters, he appeared in more James Bond films than any other actor' - from his Wikipedia entry.
And there are scores of other appearances in the likes of Doctor Who, the original Thunderbirds, the Chris Reeve Superman flicks and Batman Begins.
R.I.P. indeed.

I'll be honest it's quite a blow, in the sense as I've said before, he's been a part of childhood and the rest. I had the chance to meet him last year, had I not been working I would've. It's weird how something like Thunderbirds makes a mark -I remember, an early memory of watching DAF with my Dad and that moment when Rimmer walks up to WW. My Dad saying, "That's Scott from Thunderbirds" and being a young mite of about 7 or 8 or so, I said something like: "But he looks nothing like him!"
(The same when he first pointed out Ed Bishop in some film, I was quite surprised he looked nothing like Captain Blue).
As said, seeing Rimmer in anything was always a perk especially the Bond films or Persuaders. As far as I'm aware, as the Thunderbirds main voice cast goes, this leaves Matt Zimmerman (Alan) and David Graham (Gordon, Brains).
RIP

Finest tribute I've read (despite the beautiful messages from BI and Hilly, of course...).

Damn, even when you don't really know them from anything else it still hurts. It's so sad that so few of the old guard are around.
