Rarely has music been as beautiful and moving as the works of Hans Zimmer. Truly, he is full of awesome. Whatever that means.
Zimmer programmed the HNG backing track for that gem, which he seems to have omitted from his CV.
Post other Zimmer atrocities here. With so much material available, this thread should rival Star Trek Virgins for page length and sheer uglyness.

He may not be in the same league as Goldsmith, Herrman, Rosza, Barry or Williams but there is much of his work I enjoy - Batman Begins, TDKR, The DaVinci Code, The Rock etc. As targets of derision go I think there are more valid ones out there (James Horner, Alan Sivestri and David Arnold spring to mind), if slightly less prolific ones.

I have one best of Zimmer collection double cd which contains the best tracks of various movies and it sounds pretty impressive but outside of Gladiator (together with Gerards) I cannot say that I would listen and enjoy his complete soundtracks as I find them generally bland in music.

Crimson Tide has its moments, Dark Knight Rises...and it.

Didn't have a problem with Zimmer until stuff like Gladiator took him out of the more rock/pop territory he excelled in with the likes of Black Rain. I didn't mind the heavy rock/Spanish romantic hybrid he came up with for MI2, but that's about the last time I recall liking one of his scores. The big and predictable sounds of Gladiator and Batman aren't his strong suit IMO.

A video on the 12 piece drum circle Zimmer devised for MoS.
"But if my ambition is not to create art - I'm not that arrogant or pretentious, I'm in the entertainment industry, and so are strippers - I have to have enough ambition to at least not make McDonalds. Otherwise I will be asking myself 'what for?'"
I should drop in one of these days and remind of him that song.

I might go. The score is a guilty pleasure.
