I estimate I play this song 1,000 times a year...at least 3 times a day, sometimes more...meaning I've played it many, many, many times. Will probably play at my funeral.
Even lost my virginity to it.
My faves by DD...
1. Girls on Film (Night Version), which is a remix of the single version above; 2. New Moon On Monday 3. Ordinary World. 4. Come Undone. 5. All She Wants Is.

Interesting selection, one of the better tracks from Pop Trash. I met Warren at the Grand Casino in Biloxi, Mississipi for the supporting Let It Flow tour in 1999 (I was wearing 4 inch pumps and towered over him but gosh, he had huge muscles and had a shiny bald head). He mingled with us quite freely in the large lobby area and signed my tour program.
And yeah, he was fired by letter quite unceremoniously but I believe he got a golden handshake. Andy Taylor began throwing his hissy fits yet again a couple years later...idiot....

It's tough to look at Duran Duran now because as they've gotten older, so have I. I'm old enough to remember when they started to become a huge sensation here in the U.S. back in 1982....the cultural sensation they brought with them....the hair, the clothes, the look. I was too young to copy it, had no desire to do so, and was raised in a socially conservative house anyway, so no way would I have collar-length hair and mascara, and streaks in my floppy hair that covered half my face. Looking back on it 30 years onward, it's hard to believe that New Wave and Glam Rock (such as Cinderella, Motley Crue, Poison, et.al) were popular back then; that no one really thought twice about rock bands teasing their hair , bleaching it, wearing eye liner and purple spandex. All the 80's music brings back memories; mostly good.
My favorite DD songs were probably the "classics"; I don't think I've heard much of their newer stuff.

Saw them live twice, first time was in a moderately-sized venue in the late 90s (when the only original members were Le Bon and Rhodes) and the second was the reunited original line-up in an arena about 10 years ago.
Enjoyed the first gig more.

From the new stuff a couple years ago, Girl Panic was the video they put the most effort in. The band was envisioned as being female super-models....
Out of my Mind is also terrific...they were experimenting with indian rhythms at the time. The best version was used in The Saint...the perfecto mix is also good.

I've never been the biggest DD fan, but I quite like their stuff with Warren Cuccurullo. It had a bit of soul in it.

After my teenage years, I never was much of a fan, but Medazzaland and Pop Trash are still two brilliant albums from start to finish. I have no idea why they had to get rid of Warren Cucurullo, IMO he added a lot of essentials to the band, which can be seen especially in the band´s output after his departure, a few songs such as What happens Tomorrow, Red Carpet Massacre, Box full of Honey, and The Man who stole a Leopard being lonely exceptions of brilliance.

The pitch glitches in the chorus suggest monitoring problems .
Why can´t they make such good songs now?

Next album is due next year, they have Nile Rodgers (from The Reflex and The Wild Boys fame) back in the can as well.
Heard they are trying to reclaim the dance floor...

Chic are one of DD's biggest influences (wasn't Bernard Edwards John Taylor's main inspiration?) so this is good news.

He was for sure. I heard that Bernard Edwards played bass on some early DD recordings, but that might not be true. Not so good news for me anyhow, since I prefer their more psychedelic stuff. Besides, Ronson already didn´t do them much good, so I´d prefer them to not be nostalgic.

Some quick info about the new Duran Duran album...
'I couldn't be happier to be working with my band again,' Rodgers says of reuniting with 'Wild Boys' collaborators.
Thirty years ago, Duran Duran and Nile Rodgers teamed for the band's iconic hit single "The Wild Boys." Now, that pairing is back in action, recording Duran Duran's new studio album, which is due for release in first half of 2015.
Duran Duran & Nile Rodgers Reuniting on New Album
"The record is coming along great," says Rodgers. "I couldn't be happier to be working with my band again. They're like my second CHIC." (Rodgers -- who topped the Billboard Hot 100 twice with his band CHIC -- also co-produced Duran Duran's Notorious album, and remixed their Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single "The Reflex" to great success.)
Also on board for the new album: Mark Ronson, who co-produced Duran Duran's last album, 2010's All You Need Is Now. Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has previously contributed guitar work, and Mr Hudson has also been in the studio with the band.
"We've got different collaborators on different songs," says the band's John Taylor, "and they are also sort of intermixing, you know? I don't really want to talk about that, yet: the various formulas and the various interactions that are happening, because it's not finished yet."
While Taylor did not elaborate on the direction of the new music (as they are still "assembling the various pieces that make the album"), the band's Nick Rhodes has been slightly more forthcoming about the set's sound. "I think we know where we want to be, and it's right in the center of the dance floor," he recently told the Associated Press. "That's what we're aiming for together."
As the band is not under contract with a record company, they are in discussions with a number of labels for the release of the album, according to their management. For their last album, the band partnered with Apple, giving its iTunes Store the exclusive right to sell the album for its first three months. Then, the group signed a deal with S-Curve Records to issue an expanded version of All You Need Is Now to all retailers.
Next up for the band: They'll play the Formula 1 Grand Prix Weekend Fan Fest in Austin, Texas, on Nov. 1. It's the group's only ticketed U.S. concert of 2014. However, don't expect new music at the show, as Taylor says it's "very unlikely" that they'll surprise the audience with new tunes from the forthcoming album. "When you're coming out with something new," he says, "you want people to hear it really the way that it's meant to be heard. And that's probably not going to be a first-time live performance."

This one is a BITCH to get...released exclusively in Italy so it's rare...but finally on my shelf. There's one on eBay right now for almost US$50 and from some place in Eastern Europe.
