If Sean Connery or Cubby Broccol were alive today they'd slap Babs for what she's done to this once proud and historic franchise. This "EQUALS" video is a mockery of everything the James Bond series ever stood for. You can literally feel the guilt and the shame seeping out of Bab's pours pores; almost as if she feels embarrassed to be the producer of this series and to enjoy the immense wealth and privilege that she inherited from a character that made "sexism" fashionable and entertaining. Babs is preaching feminism and using Bond as an intellectual and emotional punching bag; a property that she can exploit to push a social agenda, then turn around and sell out her sisterhood for a billion dollar payday. What a hypocrite! RIP Sean Connery. That FieldsMan chap sounds a lot like GS… To add to the discussion re: Samantha Bond's Moneypenny, I liked her exchanges from GE, TND and TWINE. But you all knew that. Much more interesting and memorable than Caroline Bliss' scenes. No one will beat Lois Maxwell, and not sure how I feel about Miss Moneypenny being a field agent first. |

I'm a firm backer of Fassbende but Elba would be hands down my second choice the guy is so da*n intense.
To me, Luther is irrelevant. It boils down to one simple fact. Bond ain't black. |

Of course he's not. But he could be and he could be fantastic, too. Go watch Luther. Forget about all the s**t about Bond (ain't gonna happen anyway, not soon), just watch that show, you won't be disappointed. That intensity, that sheer power, my my my. Elbba 's got all the things I love Dalton for and more. He ought to get a role that uses his power, not just an othello. Did someone call him animalistic? So spot on. For me it comes down to this, Bond can be anything the people accept. Elba I'd accept in a blink. LOL! Then again they'd cast him for a DAD remake, I'd eat my hat |

| Oddly I am confident there are some excellent choices to play Bond that we haven't heard of, that both tally with the physical and the emotional descriptions Fleming employed. If they did a spy flick in the mould of Bond with Elba, I'd go see it and probably enjoy it, but when casting any role this idea that nothing actually matters in terms of the source definitions is not one I sympathise with, choice is there.....its not game breaking when they don't but I'd just prefer they made a proper effort to tick as many boxes as reasonably possible. |

| By the time Craig steps down (presumably in 2018, if the every-3-years cycle continues) Elba will be 47 or thereabouts. Leaving aside the racial argument, I simply don't see someone of that age being cast if they're hoping to get at least 4 films out of him. |

| But does "intensity" guarantee a strong performance as Bond? I have my doubts, because this "intensity" is only one element of the character. There's a lighter side to Bond that I don't necessarily see in Elba.
Mind you, I didn't see it in Craig, but his humour works best when he's completely deadpan rather than making obvious double entendres like Moore. |

Mind you, I didn't see it in Craig, but his humour works best when he's completely deadpan rather than making obvious double entendres like Moore. Good observations. If "intensity" were enough, Dalton would've been Bond for 5 films. And the best bit of comic relief I can recall in the Craig series was him saying nothing: just the look on his face as he jumps onto the moving subway/tube car and stares right at the woman, telling her to let him in. Unfortunately they had to go and dampen the affect by giving him a ham-fisted throwaway joke about being from some sort of governmental inspection agency, but overall I thought it was one of most underrated scenes in the Craig era. Then again, I remember "He got the boot!" getting a huge laugh from audiences when TLD came out. Humor works differently for different actors. I never cared much for Brosnan's humor...in retrospect, I find I haven't cared as much for him as an actor playing Bond than I have the movies he starred in. He just happened to be in movies that I wanted to see; as an actor, I'd rate him behind Dalton and Moore, clearly the two best actors who have played Bond. Connery and Craig are middle of the pack...with Lazenby and Brosnan towards the back. |

To me, Craig's best humour scene so far was...in of all scenes...the torture scene in Casino Royale. The cinema burst into laughter when he said "to the right." The scene you mentioned above comes second in my book. Can't remember anything in Solace but it's that forgettable anyway. |

Connery and Craig are middle of the pack...with Lazenby and Brosnan towards the back. Roger Moore as the best Bond actor? Not a chance! I haven't seen much of his stuff outside Bond (just a few eps of The Persuaders), but he's far from being the best actor to play Bond. Connery, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig are light years ahead of Moore - even Lazenby had his moments that are more honest than Moore. He tends to play his idea of seriousness when the stakes are high instead of actually being in the moment - more so in his first four efforts. That said, I enjoy watching Moore as the personality he is because of that charm and humour that he naturally brings to the character. Do I enjoy watching him more than Dalton or Lazenby? Maybe, maybe not - depends on my mood. But I see him more as a personality than a competent actor. |

"We are teachers on sabbatical and we have just won the lottery." Bond clearly does not give a fuck in this scene. |
