I don't mind You Know My Name but for the most part I find the lyrics pretty clunky. It could just be me, though.

Yeah, they remind me a bit of my (awful) attempts at songwriting back when I was 13 or 14.

Ok, not that bad, but in addition to that the lyrics seem kind of... forced in. There's a pattern (well, at least initially), but the choice of words don't really reinforce it. It's kind of hard to explain what I'm getting at. Rhyme and assonance are scattered haphazardly through the lyrics with no order or construct.

With a bit of personality and sex appeal that first verse works a lot better. Hell, the chorus even makes sense until Tomorrow Never Dies rears its ugly head (but even Don Black couldn't really make sense of that). With a better singer and a tighter lyrical focus (as a sort of torch song from a Bond girl's perspective, instead of devolving into this "martini's girls and guns; you bet your life/every night/chasing the morning light" nonsense) it could've been something better, instead of one of the worst. Don't get me wrong, it was never going to be a great song, but I think those opening lines had more potential than was delivered. Like I said, I find it evocative, I could just be nuts

Also you know the guy on the left with a mic is a doucebag.

Either those lyrics are poetic or nonsensical...Either way, I enjoy them simply because of the aesthetically pleasing sounds they make, truly. Sometimes that's all a song is about.
