| I had a look and in the last post of the detailed rankings thread I broke down how the films ended as they had, largely as I had a bunch on the same score overall (6.5/10 etc). Nice rankings Python. Not often you see Moonraker so high. |

- Well, as I've managed to watch a lot in the past couple of months this is how it looked in 2015 when I last did a Bondathon and did such a thing. The digits are how they differed in movement from the last rankings of 2012-14.
OHMSS 0 FRWL 0 TLD 0 LTK 0 Dr No 0 Thunderball 3+ FYEO 0 Octopussy 0 Skyfall -3 Spectre NE Goldfinger -1 DAF 3+ Moonraker -1 YOLT 0 LALD -4 Goldeneye -4 CR 0 TSWLM -4 VTAK 1+ DAD 1+ TND -4 TWINE -4 QOS -1 TMWTGG -1
I'm hesitant to change it about having watched half of them. I'm gradually gearing towards watches of Skyfall, Spectre and soon enough TWINE/DAD.
Keep it as such right now. I dare-say I could adjust it for Spectre. How's your Bondathon going, Hilly? We need to fix the abhorrent placement of SP and TND! |

| Well, such as it is, it's stalled. At the moment things will be left as is -largely as I don't have the stomach to sit through Spectre or QOS just yet. But I did buy Skyfall on Blu-ray (absurdly cheap copy) and as I've touched it infrequently since 2012, I'm biding my time. Brown once said it's the kind of film to watch sparingly or else it's lost it's allure. I don't see TND rising any more. In fact I'm not sure if I can edit my Bondathon as I simply have done them all over the shop (Moore's, the odd Connery then Dalton, the odd Brosnan and back...)
We'll see in the run up to the next film. I think my rankings were unrecorded this time round. Law. |

| Particularly interesting is one of Moore's being your second favourite, but his others making up 6 of your bottom 8. |

True; actually its the "fun" factor I' was counting there. I have lots of fun watching all of the movies, however, there's like 10-15 I'd love to watch more than the others. |

| Interesting list BamesJond. Don't normally see YOLT as high as you have it, but that's coming from someone who has TND at number 1. Good to see GE at the very top. - Hilly wrote:

Still too low. Though I imagine that seeing OHMSS where it is brings a tear to your eye. Don't worry, does for me too. What's worse is it's under CR AND SP. |

| Alright, here is my list of personal favourites, not necessarily what I consider the best. For example, I think GoldenEye is, in many ways, a better movie than some of the movies above it on the list, but it doesn't move me the same way. I guess this is a list of the order I would watch them today, and, like others' lists, it shifts around a bit. Casino Royale had pretty much been cemented at the top, though.
1)Casino Royale 2)Dr. No 3)Goldfinger 4)Thunderball 5)From Russia with Love 6)Live and Let Die 7)Quantum of Solace 8)Skyfall 9)Diamonds Are Forever 10)The Man with the Golden Gun 11)You Only Live Twice 12)The Spy Who Loved Me 13)On Her Majesty's Secret Service 14)GoldenEye 15)For Your Eyes Only 16)Licence to Kill 17)Moonraker 18)The Living Daylights 19)Octopussy 20)A View to a Kill 21)The World is Not Enough 22)Tomorrow Never Dies 23)Spectre 24)Die Another Day |

| Hope that cement cracks around number 1. Not often you see TLD that low. I'd agree and say Goldeneye is a much better film than many you have listed above it (all those 70s and 00s films for instance...) But that's why it's your list and not mine! |

But that's why it's your list and not mine! Yeah, things will likely shift around a bit, but I am pretty sure that 1-5, 6-18, and 19-24 are mostly set and will move around in those ranges, but probably won't rise or drop into a different range. TLD so low is a function of lack of familiarity. It is one that I can see moving a lot on my list as I watch it more. Skyfall might drop. Sorry, Broz! I saw that link to Tarantino's thoughts on the different Bonds, and I feel the same way. I really like Pierce, but I don't really care for the movies he was in. |

| I wish Tarantino elaborated on Brosnan's films. Surely, at the very least, he'd appreciate GE, and the sardonic undercurrent of TND.
Will say CR at no. 1 is unforgivable. |

| Even during a round-table review of TND in 1997 he didn't really comment much on that film besides "Michelle Yoeh is cool", which isn't surprising given his affinity for Hong Kong action pictures. Instead he used that time to talk about how he would love to do CR. He must have misremembered the novel because he goes on to say "it ends with Bond killing the girl and calling HQ to say 'the bitch is dead'", maybe trying to conflate how the novels are much darker than what the films became in the 90s.
One casting he suggested he'd do is have Samuel L. Jackson for Felix Leiter. I could actually picture Jackson of the 90s being able to pull off that role. Of course I suppose some would have claimed Tarantino was just appeasing the PC crowd with the casting. |

| Considering Bond kills the girl two years later in TWINE, maybe some of his feedback rubbed off on Eon.
I'd say he'd just like to use his frequent collaborator. He doesn't strike me as someone who would be into appeasing PC crowds. Still, that casting idea is terrible!
I'd be keen to watch that roundtable if you have it handy to link here. |

| For what it's worth during his promoting of THE HATEFUL EIGHT he said he liked Brosnan but didn't think any of this films were great.
Here's the video link I found: https://charlierose.com/videos/2351 This is when he was out promoting JACKIE BROWN and discuss other films that came out around that time like TITANIC.
Hope it works in your region! They start discussing TND at 12:28. Brace yourself though, they're pretty dismissive of TND, even Tarantino who says "I'm so sick of the way they've done it. It's not Pierce Brosnan, and Michelle Yeoh is really cool in it. Pierce Brosnan is good in it, but I so don't care about it, I'd like to see something new." |
