I've heard this freaky 'conjuring' type series is scaring the crap out of viewers, have you seen it yet?
Might dig in from this weekend.

I haven't, but I might try to check it out. I think it's not yet on Netflix Belgium, but I might be wrong about that.

It's on Netflix UK. Most likely on NBelgium as well as I think it's been rolled out internationally. Getting lots of hype in the UK such as:
Quote :
Veronica crept up on us quietly. The Spanish horror movie landed on Netflix with little publicity at the beginning of last week, but has since become a word-of-mouth sensation. Viewers took to social media to complain that it had left them quaking and sleepless, prompting headlines asking whether it was the “scariest movie ever”.
Might give it a go this weekend. I can't remember when a horror film last scared me - maybe Spoorloos. Being buried alive seems to be my Room 101.

Don't despair Erica, if you start getting scared, it's all in the mind. Think these 3 words. JUST.THE.TIP.

I like the genre but I find it mostly entertaining and rarely truly frightening. It's certainly been a long time since I watched a genuinely scary one. "Spoorloos" is a good shout. Its strength is in the sheer banality of its evil, as well as how real it feels compared to the so-called Big Bad in so many other genre exercises.
I loved "The Wailing" and I thought some bits were genuinely scary, but I wouldn't call the experience of watching it truly terrifying.
Like most modern day horror - apart from the torture porn franchises like "Saw" - it has aspirations beyond the genre and the story obviously is meant to be a metaphor for xenophobia, at least up to a certain point.
